Dorking did it for two years at Horley, and this season at wanderers and next few years at Meadowbank. Don't like it, lets make the best of it. Eventually we get back home. I queried MVSCR sharing all over Surrey. Now sharing at Sutton with a chance of a new ground at school, Was it really worth the expense to get established at COCO level? Couldn't they have just waited? I guess for every Bookham that failed doing it there will be another club succeeding.Answers on a postcard please. So I come to AC London. Sharing at Banstead. Banstead are a well run club with experienced guys and a good clubhouse capable of putting on weddings birthdays barvitzmas etc. So why can't AC London comply with basic regulations at this level? Footballing wise they are top of the division, some of their players are the cream of the crop in the coco. Some feel the need to be thugs, which is a pity. But if you are going to spend thousands on a groundshare why not avoid thousand of fines by just complying? If they get promoted this year the premier clubs will not be happy with their off the field activity. The world of football needs to be less obsessed with 50 seat stands and fencing, and boardroom capacity and more engaged with ensuring senior football has clubs capable of properly representing senior status. AC London are ground compliant but not league compliant or even offering a decent level of hospitality I'd expect at Sunday league. This isn't sour grapes, I expected DFC to get stuffed by AFL and we would have been if they had converted half their chances. We lost 3-2. No game today for Colliers Wood United and whilst there may have been more attractive matches to attend, I was always going to this game. I saw the same league fixture 2 or 3 years ago and that ended 6-2 but this was a much better game all round. Park had to be patient early on but their attractive wide play eventually bore fruit with Chaney volleying home neatly from a Cheesman cross and Walters making it 2-0. Credit to Athletic who kept plugging away and they reduced the deficit with a neat finish from no 9 whose first name is Kyle. Playing down the slope 2nd half, Park ran away with it with the evergreen Knowleden getting 2 and Phillips and Costelloe also scoring. Cheesman missed a penalty as well. A competitive game, well refereed and with two senior assistants who got nothing wrong. The whole WPFC experience on match days is excellent. A bright and informative programme, superb catering and a bar with 7 tv screens which makes everyone feel right at home. This was underlined by the late departure of many of the visiting entourage despite a heavy defeat. Good to see. The lack of floodlighting and of course the cricket and parking issues means Park's future at this level is under some threat (as with other CCL clubs) from a football association grading committee who, I would wager a small fee, wouldn't even know where the ground is. If we lose clubs like WPFC, and everything they have to offer, on and off the field, then our league, and football in general, would be a sadder place. The players and management were approachable (as were the visitors) and the committee guys ever helpful and willing to sit and chew the fat over many football issues. Of course, I have a link to the club via the cricket section but I am not being at all biased when I say that Green Lane remains one of my favourite CCL places to visit on a match day. We, as custodians of our national game, should do all we can to let the powers that be know that clubs like Park, Farleigh Staines Lammas and Sheerwater deserve a place at this level of football at least until they can make a higher transition should they so desire! I really think the whole subject of ground-sharing needs to be looked at in depth by the F.A., but I'm NOT going to hold my breath. To be honest, the idea of bringing a club into a League without even thinking about finding their OWN ground dispicable. Perhaps that's were the team suffic 'WANDERERS' originated, and NO, that ISN'T a dig at our alliance friends, gracefully sharing their ground at Westhumble with us until Meadowbank rises from the ashes ! I fully accept that there will be occasions when a TEMPORARY groundshare becomes unavoidable. However - Perhaps this requires a new thread. Slightly off-topic. aupostie Posted October 30, 2016 Share Posted October 30, 2016 After 9 straight wins in all competitions its now 3 without a win & another difficult game this tuesday. The game itself was very even with neither side taking control which was good from a spectators view as the game could easily have gone the other way, but in the end it was Staines who took their chances & got the 3pts.
