Fair point Mick. I think while we go about educating refs we should educate players and managers too. What do you think ?

Maybe they are being fast tracked as there aren't enough refs at this level.....maybe there aren't enough because of the abuse they get.....maybe this is seen as a way of reducing the abuse towards officials.....maybe you can see that this is all linked somehow doh

Sure refs would need to improve their communication skills (amongst other things) if this was to work, but it has to start somewhere and the abuse is, IMO, one of the main areas that needs to be addressed!

From Woods manager, Matt Beard's, programme notes v Dorking on Saturday

I felt we deserved all three points against Raynes Park Vale in the week. Our first half performance wasn't the best, our shape and movement was poor and our passing and decisions in the final third let us down. We managed to get it sorted at half time and I felt that we deserved to win.

I'm going to have another moan about the officials. It was the worst display I've seen at this level. They consistently got easy decisions wrong, they just don't seem to concentrate, they are not fit enough to keep up with play and then don't have the bottle to admit when they've made a mistake. We work so hard two, sometimes three, days a week preparing for games and we get let down week in week out. My players get next to nothing for playing and the officials get paid relatively well. I believe the league should do some sort of fitness testing and have meetings on a monthly basis as a minimum. Raynes Park Vale’s goal was an embarrassing catalogue of errors by the referee and his assistant. We had a player injured, the ball is dead and they are allowed to continue. Both the referee and his assistant were nowhere near up with play to see if the ball had crossed the line and even in saying that he should have allowed my player to receive treatment. What if it was a head injury or a break? If the ball is in play, then I could understand!

Good old Matty. I am surprised he isnt aware that Referees at this level have to pass a fitness test to be able to officiate. Some years ago this league tried to bring in a mid season test as well but if my memory serves me correct the FA vetoed the idea. Just whisper to Matt that if the ones he is getting are not up to standard imagine what the Poor Div 1 clubs get wink
