domcassells 38
I missed the game last night, as i'm still self isolating, but by all accounts Edgeware played very well and definitely capitalized on a bad day in the office. the L had to come at some point. I hope to back at training for Thursday, so we can start to put right those mistakes and keep going with the good start we've made.

On this occasion it was even more comprehensive with Jamie Derby's men running out 5-0 winners (see match report) with goals from Samuel Adetiba, Gary Edwards, Petrit Kransniqi, Zak Jackson and, who else, Gurkan Gokmen, this Saturday (17 October) Ware Sports will be shaking in their boots at the prospect of travelling to Preston Park now Harefield United Reserves have found their feet in their new environment this season after a sluggish start. They have also found out who their opponents will be in the First Round of the Middlesex FA Premier Cup and Enfield Borough have the pleasure of visiting Preston Park in week commencing Monday 16 November which, on paper at least, Mani Asare and Shaun Reece's men should come through but then football is not played on paper. As for the First team, they will participate in the Middlesex FA Senior Challenge Cup however have received a bye in the First Round, of far more importance to boss Jason Shaw will be this evening's visit to Tithe Farm to take on former Preston Park tenants Broadfields United who have started their campaign slowly albeit having played just three League fixtures, they will still be feeling dejected after exiting the FA Vase last Saturday on home 'soil' to Milton Keynes Irish, on Saturday Harefield United make the trip to Pancake Lane to face Leverstock Green: https://www.welwyngardencityfc.org.uk/Matchreport.aspx?id=473590 Edited October 13, 2020 by Rhodes

It could have been three as a spot kick was missed, furthermore Lindell Stewart needlessly saw red on the half hour mark however the ten men are performing very well. domcassells 38
Disappointing to say the least. We were thoroughly outplayed against a very skillful and dynamic jets team. I saw one comment on here that it was men against boys, and i don't disagree. I have worked out that with injuries and suspensions we have a full 11 players out, 8 of which you would say would be starters. No team in this league could cope with that amount changes especially to key personnel who help dictate the tempo of the game and control the style of football. We just need to find a way to compete until we have a fit squad again, and hopefully regain some of that early season form that put us in such a good postion.

Yep there's been a fare few changes on recent Harefield United team sheets that's for sure. Richard Pacquette on the bench of late?

View from the Boundary 6
Losing Harry McCorkell has been devastating certainly, but not sure there are 11 out who would ordinarily start. Not sure either about the wisdom of starting Mallett instead of Ballheimer between the sticks, Putnam's second was a shocking goal to concede all round, not least as he shot from an acute angle low into the near post and the keeper was virtually on the near post but still let it in! Pacman gees up the troops and leads from the front, enjoy watching such a wily campaigner and was sorry he didn't feature, think a recent red card may explain why he was on the bench, and at 6 down why risk him getting another when it was getting a bit naughty (Hares a bit lucky to finish with 11, frustration got to a couple). Farhall normally has plenty to say for himself, mainly to his team mates (not often complimentary), funny how quiet he was last night. In fact a feature of watching Harefield is how much they argue amongst themselves, and while understandable in the circumstances it was fairly muted compared with many a time at Preston Park. Still think Steven Green is a cracking player, but even he had a very quiet game by his standards. I hope the Hares get back on track soon, many more performances like that though and they'll be locked in a relegation battle.

Rhodes 226
Both Harefield United's First team and Reserve team were all dressed up with nowhere to go this afternoon as their fixtures at Preston Park against Arlesey Town and at Ware Sports respectively were called off due to waterlooged pitches. The Reserve side try again next Saturday (7 November) when they entertain Belstone in a Herts Senior County League Premier Division fixture having lost their last two League outings, 3-1 to today's scheduled opponents Ware Sports at Preston Park and 3-0 at Chipperfield Corinthians last Saturday however there was a positive 6-3 Aubrey Cup First Round home win over Second Division Baldock Town Reserves last Wednesday evening with goals from Gary Burrell, Petrit Krasniqi, Archie Oaks, Zak Jackson and a brace from Ross Shorto, they will now travel to Chipperfield Corinthians in the Second Round. Meanwhile the First team entertain North Greenford United on Tuesday (3 November), weather permitting, followed by a visit to Hitchin Road to take on Baldock Town next Saturday, boss Jason Shaw will be hoping to stop the rot of successive 5-2 and 6-0 League defeats. Rhodes 226
An interesting programme from 1986/87 when Harefield United were an Isthmian League Division Two South Club, having just made the switch from Division Two North where they were the season before. Having beaten Corinthian Casuals 3-0 at Preston Park in the FA Cup First Qualifying Round they drew 2-2 with mighty Southern League Premier Division Aylesbury United in a thriller at Preston Park having trailed 2-0 at the interval, losing the replay at Buckingham Road 2-0 with 903 in attendance, Cliff Hercules scored both goals for The Ducks. The sides had also met in a 1983/84 Preliminary Round tie at Buckingham Road where Aylesbury United also won 2-0, Harefield United were then in the Athenian League, the season before moving to the Isthmian League Division Two North due to the Athenian League sadly disbanding having been in existence since 1912/13:
