A photo from the action at Manor Fields last night, there wasn't a great deal Sean Devine's side could have done to prevent the 5-1 scoreline, indeed they did well to keep it 'respectable' and only concede one goal in the second period, scoring themselves late on:

Buckingham United travel to Green Lane to meet Bovingdon on Saturday 19 September for their first SSML Division Two fixture of the new campaign which will be a tricky start for Sean Devine's men, they will then disappointingly be all dressed up with nowhere to go the following Saturday with no fixture scheduled however will be able to take a nice early autumn trip to leafy Great Linford to watch the Reserve side in action in a North Bucks & District League Intermediate Division fixture.

Buckingham United limbered up nicely for their visit to Bovingdon next Saturday (19 September) with an impressive 10-1 win at beleaguered  Hellenic League Division Two East outfit Stokenchurch FC, it will be just what the doctor ordered for Sean Devine and his men who will fancy their chances at Green Lane where they really should have won last season, drawing 0-0:

A very disappointing start yesterday to Buckingham United's North Bucks & District League Intermediate Division campaign going down 5-2 at local rivals Tattenhoe, Jonny Moodie and Shaun Dewick netted for Buckingham United however it was to no avail.

Not the SSML, or the North Bucks & District League Intermediate Division for that matter, but over 200 nice photographs, courtesy of Sports Shots, of Buckingham United Vets v Denton FC Vets on Sunday 13 September in the Milton Keynes Veterans League Division Two and the first fixture of the new campaign, Denton FC Vets won the game 3-1:

There was a late pre-season friendly last night (Wednesday) at an always idyllic Crawley Road, Buckingham United took the lead however Cranfield United equalised just before the interval, the hosts then led after 70 minutes only for Buckingham United to equalise with a spot kick ten minutes later. The last ten minutes was like the Alamo however Sean Devine's men stood firm which will stand them in good stead for their SSML Division Two visit to Bovingdon on Saturday:

A Sports Shots 'interview' with Buckingham United supremo Sean Devine ahead of tomorrow's visit to Bovingdon, surely he could have been asked a few more questions:

Devine looks ahead to Buckingham United’s 2020 campaign

18th September 2020 by Andy Bone

Sean Devine has talked with Sports Shots as he takes charge of Buckingham United for another season in Division 2 of the Spartan South Midlands League.

Devine, a former Republic of Ireland B international, who played with Robbie Keane and Damien Duff, was with Barnet, Wycombe Wanderers and Exeter City during his playing career.

Now entering his second season with the Lace Hill-club, Devine has been pleased with United’s summer.

Recruitment has been good and we have had a lot of players asking to come down to train which has been a bonus. We have also retained the core of the squad from last season. With COVID and the guidelines it was strange at first adjusting but has not caused too much disruption.

The United boss has been pleased with his side’s preparations.

Our pre season has gone well in terms of how we want to play, recruiting and always looking to see where we can improve as a team.

With the season starting this Saturday, Devine has realistic ambitions for their division 2 campaign.

Obviously we want to win it but if we can improve on last season it’s a step in the right direction. I’m just looking forward to the season and every one staying safe and healthy.

Sports Shots would like to thank Sean for his time and wish him and Buckingham United all the very best for the season.

Buckingham United's team sheet for the SSML Division Two fixture at Bovingdon which unfortunately they lost 3-2 after leading 2-0 after half an hour, the Reserve team also had a disappointing afternoon losing 3-1 to AFC Santander at the Lace Hill Sports and Community Centre in the North Bucks & District League Intermediate Division:

Buckingham United's First team are 'redundant' tomorrow (26 September) however the Reserves are in North Bucks & District League Intermediate Division action and travel to the delights of village side Great Linford who have started the campaign with a win and a draw, unlike Joe Cooper's men who have lost both their opening fixtures. Next Saturday (3 October) sees the First team travel to Codicote whilst the Reserve side entertain Mursley United Development who they beat 3-1 at the Lace Hill Sports and Community Centre on 7 March whilst still under Matt Marsden's stewardship just before the curtain fell like a stone to sadly curtail last season.

An excellent 4-0 win for Buckingham United Reserves at Great Linford on Saturday in a North Bucks & District League Intermediate Division fixture which will have pleased new boss Joe Cooper and got the monkey off his back having lost the opening two games in charge since taking over the reins from legendary Matt Marsden who stepped down at the end of last season for personal reasons, Shaun Dewick, Joe Glister, Paddy Field and Jack O'Connell all hit the net at Marsh Drive. Next Saturday (3 October) the Reserves entertain fellow SSML Division Two side Mursley United Development in a North Bucks & District League Intermediate Division encounter whilst the First team, who were twiddling their thumbs last Saturday, travel to high flying Codicote who have a perfect record thus far in the SSML Division Two and won 6-1 at beleaguered The 61 FC (Luton) on Saturday.

Disappointment for Sean Devine today with Buckingham United's SSML Division Two fixture at Codicote being called off early in the morning (see match programme) however I am sure Sean was in attendance at the Lace Hill Sports & Community Centre to watch Joe Cooper's Reserve side impressively dispose of Mursley United Development 3-0 in a North Bucks & District League Intermediate Division fixture. Next Saturday (10 October) the First team entertain Sarratt whilst the Reserve team travel to the Deanshanger Sports Club to take on Deanshanger Athletic:

It doesn't make any sense does it, in this Sports Shots interview with Sean from 18 September, on the eve of the new campaign starting, he can't wait to roll up his sleeves and get started, now less than three weeks later he has gone:

Buckingham United can do no wrong with new boss John Walton at the helm following Sean Devine's surprise and sudden departure earlier this month after just one League game, a 3-2 defeat at Bovingdon. We still do not know the ins and outs and whys and wherefores of Sean's decision to resign with immediate effect and walk away from the Lace Hill Sports and Community Centre after just under eighteen months in charge however it doesn't appear to have done the Club a great deal of harm so far. Following the narrow defeat at Green Lane on the opening day of the SSML Division Two campaign, Buckingham United were left kicking their heels for almost a month for various reasons and have still only completed three League fixtures. Under John Walton's guidance however they beat Sarratt 4-1 with goals from Mohammed Adam, Matthew Ginger and a brace from Solomon Janecki and then, last Saturday, won 5-0 at the salubrious surroundings of Berkhamsted Raiders home at Kings Langley (see match report) with strikes from Salam Amoako, Henry Dalton, Nick Walton and a brace from Mohammed Adam, on Saturday (24 October) they entertain Totternhoe. Following impressive 4-0 and 3-0 wins over Great Linford and Mursley United Development respectively, Joe Cooper's North Bucks & District League Intermediate Division Reserve side have unfortunately lost their last two fixtures at Deanshanger Athletic and at home to a strong Milton Keynes Irish Athletic team last Saturday, this Saturday they go to Willen followed by a difficult Interdivisional Trophy First Round tie at Premier Division City Colts on 31 October which kicks off at 1.30pm at the Milton Keynes Village Pavillion:
