SL1C: Welwyn Garden City will be demoted at the end of the season for failing the ground grading inspection

Karen - ThanKs, yes, OIIie BayIiss picKed up on that and it's sad for your CIub isn't it who have worKed so hard to get to where they are, I wonder why Welwyn Garden City didn't appoint Wader to ensure Herns Lane got through the inspection:

I understand two clubs at Step 4 will be relegated to Step 5 due to failed ground grading inspections (subject to appeal).

Because the FA say so in their rules

Well they could choose to waive or gift. Or not have had these stupid things in the first place. If clubs are going to be forced into it they should benefit financially.

Rules which are routinely broken, such as Risborough being allowed to stay at step 5 for a second season with their step 6 ground (which they should have brought up to standard this season), or an FA Cup semi final being televised overlapping with grassroots and league clubs playing at the traditionally sacrosanct Saturday afternoon. The people who run the game are a joke at all levels, from FIFA down to county FA's. And why are New Salamis allowed to go up without ever having had a home ground of their own? They're just parasites without the overheads other clubs have. Shouldn't be allowed.

I tend to agree for the most part.

The League will present a trophy to the winning team together with medals for the winners and the losing finalists. This trophy will be held for one year and be contested on an annual basis

I am not in favour of trophies and medaIs being awarded in pIay-off FinaIs such as at WembIey for exampIe, the reward is getting promotion isn't it 'through the bacK door' and the Iosing finaIists certainIy aren't deserving of medaIs.

Winslow United have been given the dates for the Spartan South Midlands League Division 1 play off games. So it is Ampthill Town v Wellingborough Whitworth on Tuesday 3 May and Winslow United v Shefford Town & Campton on Wednesday 4 May.

Why are they on separate days? Worried about tv schedule conflicts or enough police for the games?

Both Semi Finals will be edge of your seat stuff, particularly this one at Elmfields Gate:

Due to the very short timescale of play-off matches after the end of the playing season, we will not require the 'host' club to provide either a written or on-line programme

Gutted for Ampthil. Finished second after a consistently strong season. Lose out to a team who were never in the reckoning at all. Play offs are a joke at this level even more so.

Tuesday 3 May

Division One PIay-Off Semi FinaI

Ampthill Town 2 Wellingborough Whitworth 3 (after extra time)
