Signed, retained, departing

Surely the most important retention is our manager? I have no idea what the relevant contract says but we mustn't take him for granted. Last season was exhausting and must have taken its toll. I certainly hope he does stay, he is an excellent manager.

I'm sure Gavin will stay. I think only St Albans (his local club) could tempt him away at our level. As they have gone down, that is not currently viable. A full-time club in our league that is looking for a manager (without full-time experience) and is fairly local would also be unlikely. Even though Gavin produced a great second half of the season through dedication, astute tactics and good use of loan players, the style of play and league position finished will not have many clubs 'bigger' than ETFC scrambling to secure his services quite yet. A top half finish next season and that could change.

I’m speculating but assume we cannot afford to put many onto actual contracts ..look at Hutchinson and Smith - both on contracts last season but not regulars …

Anyone know roughly the percentage of players we had on contracts last year?

I thought the last player we had on proper contract was Wylie. I would be very surprised if more than 2 players are on a proper contract at any one time, as it costs a lot of money what with employment rules / minimum wage requirements.. etc

Youngs, Parcell and Brown all announced as retained 👍

Sam and Mickey were dead certs to stay. I'm very pleased that Bayley will be with us again though - his arrival and presence in midfield was crucial last season.

We now have a fairly decent 6-a-side team ready to go next season!

Benjamin, Lambert, Knight and Connolly also retained.

Xavier is the big news there. No offence intended, but the others (even considering Olly's goals against Truro,) are squad players who will probably find themselves sent out on loan.
