Many ETFC fans on here are judging players by their personalities rather than their ability to win football matches.

I think a lot of the "personality" question is perception; rather than people actually knowing the players.

But hopefully we are still all entitled to an opinion? (unless ur name is HAPPY in which case you have to ask the wife first!!)

I'd still like to see new players coming in rather than old ones coming back

First of all, How can you say Cooper was not good enough for ETFC when he has performed consistantly at a higher level since leaving us.

Smith is a better all round player than Clarke, but i very much doubt he will score over 70 goals in under 115 games.

Allen wanted to play Ryman football more than he wanted to play for Ilford of EFC.He found the grass isn't always greener and he's back playing for his local club.

Cooper may be performing at a higher level now but he failed to live up to his early success at Town. If Smith stays fit, stays on form and gets the service, he has every chance of being Town's top ever forward. I use the word forward and not goalscorer. He may not overhaul Clarke's hit rate but being a foward isn't only about scoring goals. It's about finding the right partnership up front and working together to score goals. n that, Smith is far better than Clarke.

I will reserve judgement on Allen. I was very dissapointed to see him go as he always was able to create something down the wings. Let's hope his attitude is right from now on.

I have met him and have only ever known a really nice bloke so lets let the guy do the job for the town.

EFC were always going to be unhappy and Foxy from Ilford has been using some sour grapes to wine.

But he is now back in the fold lets close ranks!

I agreed with compo about Dave Allen, so what was pointless about that.

I was not sure he should have returned but now he is back I will fully support him.

I wouldn't class Cooper as one of our best ever forwards. He satrted very well but when the pitches got heavier he didn't perform. cove was great but ALL players must be avaible for training. As for a certain Mr Smith. His confidence has dipped but after hitting four on Saturday I wouldn't be surprised if he eclipses Danny clarke as our top ever forward at some point in the near future.

Have a look at Jims stats then tell me Coops was not a qulity performer for us. When he got the ball you knew something was going to happen, exciting to watch and knew when to pass the ball,
i use to get hoarse screaming at Clarkey to pass the ball. Dont get me wrong Danny was great for us but is no more than a good ESL player,Cooper has proved otherwise.

Ian Cooper looked a great player when he first joined but he quickly went downhill and was seen by some as a 'one trick pony'. It was as frustrating for the fans as I'm sure it was for Ian. He had the ability but (for whatever reason) things just weren't going his way.

Town definitely need another striker because Asa isn't the answer to our problems - he's better than some we had at the beginning of last season, but he isn't going to go breaking any goalscoring records.

Gary Abbott would've been great if he hadn't joined Borg!

No it is just wishful thinking on a few fans parts after speculation we were getting a new striker and on the back of a return of a former prodigal son.

Maybe I have been a bit harsh on David......

We actually played quite well when he was at the club...it was when Ronnie Watson joined that it all went wrong and David got affected by him on and off the pitch.

David is a very good player...no doubting that...and he is a nice guy to talk to but he can be easily influenced and quite infulential....but not in a positive way.

last season was our worse season to date, with the likes of billy cove and cooper. This season we seem to be playing better than last and getting somewhere near to the first two seasons, Funny that???????? Maybe we are a better TEAM without those two Individuals

Last season was our worse to date, due to a single goal!! with that we would have been runners up, hardly terrible was it, especially as we won the league cup as well. Didnt it all go tits up... as someone else has pointed out... when DC joined & changed the front line?
