ETFC 2 Basildon 0

A game that we wouldn't have gone on to win last year.

Apologies for winding up the linesman, allowing him to get his own back by raising his flag for offside at the next two opportunities (despite the fact that neither were-by some distance).

Pleased that Abbey thought we were poor; interesting that they think we are arrogant!

Disappointing that they don't want to play at Xmas-still be unwrapping their presents, I guess.

Let's hope they get plenty of stuff in December, I have a feeling there won't be much for them in April!

If ever there was a warning about complacency at the moment Barkingside have gone from 2nd to 7th in the league table and to be honest they looked pretty good a few weeks ago!

In response to the poor criticism I think we have played alot better this season.

As for arrogant - We're not on top the table yet - No room for arrogance but I reserve the right to put some polite pressure on the Abbey as the "Kings of the Castle" at the moment.

We want to win and move onwards and upwards! Nowt wrong with that.

sorry i must be missing something! who said town were poor? i think it was a poor game and you did not play great but that is what happens! the trick is to win whaen that happens and you did. basildon are a good side so a good 3 points.

with regards to x mas game, nobody said it would be v town anyway did they? i for one want to go away for xmas so no fixture would suit me. what would you vote in a similar situation?

compo....polite pressure, yeah course that is your right! its all quite funny anyway!

get a life will yer your just a fan, you cant talk about committment like players can. They have to be there and when they aint getting paid they can express there opinions too.......your just a person who wants whats best for fans and not clubs by the look of it. If the league said games on then the club has to deal with it, of course everyone at your club would be singing and dancing ...........bore off

Back to the game.

The giant of a man, Rudi Hall, outjumping the goalkeeper to head the ball into an open net! Brilliant stuff. Remindes me of 1986 and Maradonna without the use of the 'hand of god'. As for Rudi and Dean playing keep ball for 5 minutes in the railway end, what can you say?

Not a brilliant performance but three points in the bag against a good Basildon side who always looked likely to score.

Footnote. Beardsley went into a house to retrieve a match ball yesterday. Has anyone seen him since? Maybe the ball was swopped for him!
