BANK HOLIDAY FIXTURES FIASCO

Recommended Posts

We all know there is no common sense applied when it comes to fixtures in this league; ask Brentwood

i appreciate it can't be an easy task, with only being able to set fixutes a month at a time; but surely local derbies could be pencilled in for bank holidays or saturdays?

Quite honestly I can't see that it's really that far from Basildon to Enfield! It's about 40 minutes by car - I used to do that trip all the time, we were engaged by a school in Wickford.

What would happen if you were promoted to a bigger league? You'd have to travel a bit then!

I find the aactual fixtures more bizarre, as Andy said. Brentwood twice now B&P twice! Is the league developing into a two-legged match system???

Gentleman i think you will find that all leagues at a higher level even the premiership still try to give teams local derbies around the christmas and new year period.

Yeh I knew that I just wanted to see what comments came out, they also send clubs all over the place mid week whenever they like. And come to think of it..(here we go!) wouldnt it be better to travel on some Bank Holidays and there may be less traffic than other times as people stay indoors except those who go shopping or football or visiting friends........er shut up Abbeynut!!! :-(

I'd like to say a big fat Thank You to Bowers & Pitsea, because now there's a home match on my birthday!

And that's bad because....I'd love to go to watch a game on my birthday, unfortunately it's in July. I'm lucky if I get to see a pre season friendly. Unless of course I'm reading your comment out of context and you genuinely are grateful to be watching a game on your birthday!!!! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/yay.gif" alt="" />

In season 2000-2001,on 7th November,Canvey Island played Enfield in the Ryman Premier League but the Match Programme says on the cover and throughout " Enfield Town " and this was before the latter was even founded- so worth hunting it out " Towners" as a bizarre souvenir !

Likewise, I vaguely remember a Fisher Athletic programme saying they were playing Enfield Town (again before the split) and describing the Es as "our neighbours from Essex". But what did Tony Incenzo ever know?

BTW, when Enfield played Telford in the FA Trophy Final at Wembley there was a dodgy souvenir seller who was selling "Enfield Town" scarves. I wish I'd bought one now! Little did we know...
