BANK HOLIDAY FIXTURES FIASCO

Enfield United indeed - who knows what the future holds ? Certainly this article on the Non League Daily site is very topical, particularly inferring that the Ryman 2 is below us in the Pyramid - and as we should believe everything we read in the Press then lap it up folks !.. What odds on the winner going all the way !

DESTINY CALLS!

Somehow it was destined to happen. After the acrimonious split three years ago, Eastway Essex Senior League club Enfield Town were drawn out of the hat with Ryman League Division Two outfit Enfield in the Third Round of the FA Vase at Soho Square on Monday.

Enfield Town were officially formed in June 2001, when the members of the Enfield Supporters' Trust voted overwhelmingly to break away from the Ryman League club and start afresh.

The story really began in September 1999 though, when Enfield FC became homeless following the sale of the Southbury Road stadium, its home since 1936.

After a period of groundsharing with no less than six different clubs the then Enfield FC chairman settled on a long-term ground share with Boreham Wood in Hertfordshire.

Support soon dwindled and, worried that their club may never return to the borough, a group of supporters forced the local council to tackle the problem. A joint 'task force' was set up and after many months of negotiations three possible sites were identified within the borough for a new home.

The Enfield FC chairman failed to act upon their findings however, and with the considerable help of Supporters Direct, The Enfield Supporters' Trust was formed, culminating in the historic decision to break away and form the new club.

Since then Enfield FC have spectacularly spiralled down the non-League Pyramid, going from being twice Conference title winners, eight times Isthmian Premier winners and twice winners of the FA Trophy to being members of Division Two – effectively below Enfield Town in the Pyramid!

It will be an especially big day for the Enfield Town players who played for the ‘other’ side. They include goalkeeper Andy Hall, plus Stuart Snowden, Adam Gant, Bradley Brotherton, Jason Geraghy, Rudi Hall and John Ridout (pictured), who was a member of Enfield’s 1995 Isthmian League title-winning side.

And now the two sides meet at Ware’s Wodson Park on a date, looking like being Sunday December 12th due to Ware playing the previous afternoon, to determine bragging rights in Enfield.

Both sides are currently in good form and at stake is a place in the last thirty-two of the FA Vase.

Brilliant info and very interesting, even for us who are not involved in ETFC or EFC.

[color:"purple"]Q. [/color] If your game is likely to go ahead on the 12th, what are the chances of your U18s going ahead with the fixture against our (Bowers & Pitsea)U18s on the same day? We would not object to a rearrangement as we have our Xmas party the previous night!!!!! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/icon_band222.gif" alt="" />

When I went to a game on my birthday it was EFC v Farnborough at Boreham Wood,It rained all day, the visiting supporters and team took the micky out of the club and we lost heavily. I was so bored with the game I sat in the stand talking to other supporters and it was that day I decided to follow EFC to the end of the season and then stop going as it was no longer the club I started supporting.

Luckily our club was formed a couple of months later and I have NEVER regreted the decision.
