quite a few do

Junior have to admit im one of them, was taken to my first EFC game in the 69/70 season, my Dad was also an avid supporter and use to work with some of the Team in the 50s & 60s, i see the badge on MKJames post and get quite nostalgic, one pratt & a dodgy council ruined EFC, now both have gone id love to see both clubs join together in Enfield, not the borough but in ENFIELD! playing in Edmonton or anywhere else in the borough is as pointless as playing in Ware.

What's to say the 'few' running both clubs aren't screwing us at the moment by not letting a merger happen.

There are only a finite number of non-league supporters in the borough of enfield. The borough literally can't support 2 successful non-league sides in the long term.

EFC can't survive forever outside the borough with a board pumping money in. If EFC did get back into the borough it is hard to see support increasing that much - Town fans wouldn't want to join up with the 'power' still in a few hands. So where would the fans come from?

Similarly ETFC seem to be stalling. Another season at this level and interest starts to wane. EFC doing so well puts any ETFC failure into perspective - it was different when EFC were in freefall, back then anything ETFC did looked good.

I don't think all the blame can be laid at the feet of both boards. I for one would like to see the two sides join forces agian (ideally under the current Town 'umbrella, but that probably just being a bit selfish.)

But at present i'm sure that the majority of supporters from both clubs do NOT want to give up anything that they have both currently worked so hard to achieve. As such if their was a straight vote between both sets of supporters today ,it would probably be about a 70% NO vote.I certainly won't be holding my breath waiting for a change in attitudes and will currently invest all my support (and future) into ETFC.

I think Enfield council promised of a site for a football ground in Enfield (QE2 stadium for example),BUT ONLY if both clubs get together to unite football in Enfield, thatcould swing the balance.

Lets not forget though, this discussion is ONLY happening because Town lost their two most important games of the season. If Town had won both games (as they had plenty of chances to do so),this discussion would not be taking place.

No, it's not the case. The discussion has been going on since The Evil One left EFC.

I can't see how "EFC is doing so well " and ETF aren't. It's not Christmas yet and the clubs are top and second in their leagues, the game between the two was extremely close and ould have gone either way, by all accounts. Neither club has it's own ground, one shares in th borough. One has challenged for honours for the last three years, one has had two successive relegations.

No-one's asked all the supporters yet, there are a few from either side of the debate that come on here, that's all.

I notice from the paper article that Andy circulated that EFC claim to have a piece of land in the borough and a "partner" to help them build a stadium. I look forward to seeing details of the planning application with interest.

Neither club should fool themselves that the council have the slightest interest in senior sport. Of course they will speak fine words and promise all sorts of jam tomorrow, but this will be to both clubs and it will not be delivered to either. You are fooling yourself if you think otherwise.

Am I correct in believing that EFC is now technically a fans run club as well?

Gaz is also correct when he says a major problem would be the number of people now in "authority" who might lose their positions in the event of a merger. This is probably the biggest obstacle.

As I said before, a continued split is likely to end up in the death of senior football in Enfield.

If EFC did come back into the borough without ETFC on board I would certainly not be drawn into the EFC fold. In fact I dare say that I would stop watching non-league football in enfield altogether. We would have 2 senior teams IN the borough. ETFC was formed by people who wanted a team in the borough, while EFC has been taken over by fans who want a successful team back in the borough. Only a few pig-headed people would be stopping a team from the borough getting back to the top of non-league football.

Coupwotcoup.I don't think you OR Abbeyman/nut have covered yourselves in glory on this forum in the past week or two. As i've said, enjoy. You seem to take great delight every time ETFC slip up.

lovely maybe the reason for this is because of the way some of you lot go on about how good you are when maybe just maybe your not? I don't need to be covered in glory, believe you me at our club there ain't too much of that around....as for seem to take great delight, truth is the only delight I take is hearing all your fans whinging, and please feel free to name everyone else on here who speaks out thanks, as for your team good luck to them, they don't appear to moaning too much around here do they?.......

Not always. God how I remember Esha Ness winning the National in 1994, and I had £100 @ 40-1, then the b'stards called the race null and void...and a) the bookie smirked when he gave me my money back (I think he relates the story to his kids now under the heading: Near death moments I have experienced), and B) we lost 4-3 at home to Southend Manor and c) if my memory is still functioning after copious amounts of vino, Bobby Moore died the same week. Hate West Ham, but Mooro was the cojones.

So don't ever say to me again that first past the post wins!!!

Grrrrr
