The difference having a confident keeper made today was incredible. The defence looked much more solid as they knew he'd come and get crosses etc with ease.

 

The fact he'd probably never met the players before today makes his performance all the more impressive.

Gutted. But as I only got back from Dorset at 4pm there was little I could do about it.

Good to see Charlie is scoring goals - only 17 more for our 20 goal a season player!

Had a quick look at last week's postings - cor what negative bunch we are. So Grays hammered us - they will do that with a lot of teams - but they should beware, the bubble will burst as it did at Hornchurch. It looks like their attendances will average out at a little over 1000, not enough to keep a full time side of well paid players out of the red.

Exeter was always going to be a toughie - to lose 2-0 against a serious promotion hopeful team was no disgrace.

Reading the reports, it seems McShane is by far the best of the 3 keepers. Whilst it makes no sense to get rid of one already, it is obvious there ARE high class, Conference keepers available, either as free agents or available for loan spells of varying lengths. Why do we have to put up with unproven keepers from lower leagues, when a great keeper will earn more points in a season than any striker will?

Non plussed really. Lack of money prevented the game and no car. So we shall see on Saturday at the home game - rather give the fleet any spare cash i have than Canvey anyway.

Will be making my first appearance against Cambridge on Saturday. Will be able to give an opinion after that on our new players.

So far I have criticised no - one as it is unfair to do so in front of a computer screen without having actually seen the players you are commenting on.

Also I'm hoping my all time XI is featured in the programme.

well done the fleet, typing this message slightrly pissed, but sorry i couldn't be there today, wishing i was, i'm there almost every fleet game, but playing sport comes before watching it sadly <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />, and losing in the very last over with 2 balls to go hurts as i wish i was watching the fleet. sorry if no one understands, it took me nearly 10 mins to write this and hopefully it reads ok, COME ON THE FLEET!!!! Will be there for every game after september 3rd as i need to keep my cricket team in the league we are in otherwise we get relegated. apologies if this makes no sense but i have been on the beeers since i got my a level results on thursday and got into my uni to do medicine <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />! The keeper really made a difference,although up to conceding their goal the defence looked a bit suspect again.

Once the penalty went in we looked more relaxed,and in the second half tried to play it on the ground after spending too much time lobbing it hopefully, i'm still not convinced though as Canvey are pretty poor,we just don't look confident at times.

He hasn't made it onto Sky's COnference top scorer list, however. They have Grays' John Martin and some York fella on three, then Boylan and a few others on two. No Charlie!!
