we started well. then never looked liek scoring. deano played well. hughesy came on for ricki and did well, caused them problems. they never looked like scoring, so its definitely (another) two points dropped. on the up side it was £8 with a programme, and a lovely sunny day.....

We usually have bad first halfs & come alive in the 2nd, today however the first 10 mins were good then it all went down hill, the 2nd half was nothing short of woeful.

Aveley were bog standard we should have done a lot better, their two centre backs were big & fast (but that was about all) so we spent 90 mins humping the ball up in the air!

Deano had a great first half but is never a wing back, he needs to be playing in front of someone.

One bright note was Lexton Harrison (think that was his name) he had a solid 2nd half at the back.

It was a shambles.Admittedly we had a quite a few players out/unavailable.Even so.

Gant/Tickner/Magona at the back.<img src="/forum/images/graemlins/achso.gif" alt="" />

Black was ineffective and half-hearted,as usual.Smithy was my man of the match, simply because he battled for every ball that went near him.

We never looked like scoring. As soon as i saw the Aveley centre backs had pace, i knew we would be limited in the chances we would create.

Hughes came on, showed good skills, but was slow and lacked strength.

Sorry I thought this was Michael Blacks best game to date but hardly looks like he once played for Arsenal I'll grant you. Why were we booting the ball route 1 the no 5 and 6 for Aveley got the header away every time.

No it was better than last year and Black did have his best game since coming to the club.

I thought that Aveley were better than last year and a draw was a fair result. Aveley's attack was poor but their defence was well organised, fast and talented. Our defence, in the first half was also poor but bucked up when cousin Harrison came on.

The Aveley defence was a match for our attack with a very good number 6 and an adequate gaolkeeper. As the game wore on Aveley's midfield started to run out of puff and for a time we were finding space in the middle third of the pitch but then the conditions wore us down.

I actually thought it was an interesting game but, I agree, not exciting.

Black was poor, but it was still his best game.Shows you how well he's been playing. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

Look.He had one little run and a cross down the Left flank in the first half, plus a lob over the bar after blocking the ball. His actual, pace, strength, tackling, heading,AND passing, were all well below was is expected from a Town midfield player.

I hear Mackey is back from America. And not before time.

Where was Dave Allen?

Black needs to lose some of those pie I'll grant you but I was pleased to at last see something from him.

Jamie Mackey back will give the team a boost. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bisou.gif" alt="" />

David Allen was suspended which was a great disappointement after his excellent performance against Sudbury.

Oh dear more family connections! But Lexton did improve the defence in the second half.

I am going to have to agree with LS here. I have not seen all the games this season but if that was Black's best game, then I need stronger contact lenses.

I don't think we should be discussing the pitch, the referee, a difficult venue, a bogey side, the angle of the sun beating down, the traffic queue on the M25, the admission prices, etc. We should seriously look at what the team were doing on Saturday to warrant the Aveley keeper being voted man of the match in the NLP? Just what did he have to do apart from make some 'easy' saves? JJ tested him out with a couple of long punts, but apart from those.....

Why did we resort to route one football aagainst three well organised defenders who stood head and shoulders in height above our attackers?

On the whole, a very disappointing performance.
