3rd PLACE..

UP FLEET

Recommended Posts

Oh dear, Gary, oh dear. As has been said on numerous occasions, one can broadly comment on the quality of the performance on the basis of a radio commentry, just not on specifics like passages of play and the performances of individual players...

But well done to the lads! It's excellent to see my pessimistic predictions being laid to waste by these victories!

The Fleet are off again...

Dare one say it, but we must have a decent chnce of consolidating this over the coming games - 4 out of the next 6 are at home again & all are against sides 16th or below (although Crawley are theoretically 10th of course). The 2 away games are ones that are never easy, but both Stevenage and Grays are in the bottom half of the table and both games are winnable.12 points or more could be quite possible from these games (which would make us safe from relegation by early in the New Year - how refreshing that would be!)

Well it would be good to be safe for another season, but I think the management and the players have the belief to go further. The move to being totally full time has obviously paid off, even if we did see some players leave who were Fleet through and through. I still feel at with our resources a finish in the top 10 at the end of the season would be some achievement for the club.

The only negative point would be that, since we've played one more game than Weymouth, York and Morecambe and two more than Burton and Exeter, we should in theory drop a fair distance eventually.

The best we can do is win the games we should win and try and continue our top results against the top teams.

Great to see you doing so well in your league , Question to you all can you see yourself up in the thick of it at the end of the season ,only asking this because if you boys go up maybe LD will offload a couple of your lads then we can pinch them for Conferance South footy next year . The lads we`ve got now playing blinding footy for us that`s why we are top of our league , Kent football doing well at last . Up the Gate .

It would be a major surprise if we were to go up still we live in hope.

The players we sent to the 'retirement home by the sea' last season were all part-timers, this years crop are all full time professionals and so would be less likely to head for Margate.

I think Liams problem will be in persuading our current crop of players to sign up for next season, I expect a few clubs with more money than us either in the Conference or above will be keeping an eye on the youngsters that are doing so well this season.

3rd place - it's absolutely fantastic to be this high in the league, being up near the likes of Weymouth, Morecambe, Dagenham, York etc.

I have said this to a number of Gravesend fans and followers of the Fleet - We must not get carried away because of our high position in the league. Although we deserve to be in the position we are, we must remember that we are 'minnows' in the Conference and, for me, 12th place or above would be satisfying for me.

But saying this, we have improved from last season, no doubt about it. One way is that we have proved that we can get a bad result, then comeback in the next game, such as losing 3-0 to Cambridge United and then coming back to win 1-0 to Oxford United.

Hope the results keep on coming!

Cronin feels Fleet can challenge

"Hopefully if it does not work out then a League club will take an interest."
