Just a thought about Boxing Day

With the Boys in Blue giving the Redskins a good thrashing on Boxing Day, Trotty will think he is John Wayne!

Mount your horse (I'll re-phrase that)

Get on your horse and leave town Butler!

Have to say that this is a dangerous game taunting the opposition of our impending victory.

After all its just 90 minutes of football and being a Derby any team could win.

The importance of a win is now two fold, beating our arch rivals and stopping Butler from quoting all of our comments !!!!!

Agree wholeheartedly with you there Pagester!

I am just going to say that I am thoroughly looking forward to this game and that as much as I would like to see the Gate take three points off Ramsgate, it ain't gonna be easy!!

Right, am off to write the Good Luck thread!

It deffo won't be easy Andy, I for one am expecting a right old battle between the teams because the Rams lads won't just be turning up expecting to get beat.

I too know it is going to be a very hard fought game. I'm not so daft as to think we are going to walk it!

But that is no reason not to have a pop at them, they expect and probably enjoy the banter as much as we do (all three of them). And I expect young Mr Butler will have plenty to say if they should heaven forbid win the match, whether we have had a go at them or not. He stands his teams corner single handed apparently, against all the odds.

For that at least I admire him (but only a bit).

Agree Alan. They are going to raise their game for this one & we shouldn't go into the game, both supporters & players alike thinking that the form we have shown of late will be enough. Its going to take a different style of play to win this one but the players have it in them to do that.Obviously if we stroke the ball around at OUR pace we can achieve a positive result but we DO need to play at OUR pace & stop them from bulldozing their way through to goal & playing 100mph football. Some determined "grit" needs to be applied together with the football skills on Tuesday.

Its going to be a very very hard game to win for many reasons. The gate players need to be reminded that they will be up against some home grown players & for that reason alone its going to be really hard to get a result. However I still believe our lads have it in them to outclass the Rams over the 90 minutes but again I take nothing for granted. Its going to need more than just our football ability to win this one.If we are REALLY up for it then we can get a positive result.Attitude & application will win the day. Whoever desires more will be winners.

Whatever happens on the day we mustn't forget that the end of season standings count more but a victory over a very very good home side(pitch assisted of course & thats my ONLY pop at them) would be massive.Yes massive because I for one respect their hard work & endeavour. We have to match them in that department. We have many things to overcome on Tuesday & that includes adapting to the pitch & the conditions & working damned hard for the full 90 minutes. It will have been worth it come the full time whistle.

The only thought I have about Boxing Day is will it actually take place. The weather is pretty damp and the ground is getting damper and damper. The chance of frost is also increassing. What with there being a match on Saturday at Deadwood and no proper ground staff to sort it out will the pitch be able to stand up to another game 3 days later?

I also think the weather forecast for Saturday is RAIN.

I think Margate have the better players overall and should win..But it might not turn out like that....The Rams have lost a couple of good players from last season Edd Vahid and Laslett but they still have 3 or 4 really good players.
And they have a good team spirit..I think it might be a bit like the Whitstable game with the Gate winning thru in the end. With 2 strikers as good as Pinnock and Hockton, there is always the possibility of goals...
