Just going through some old threads due to lunchtime boredom and came across this one which I find rather amusing.

Steve Jones defending his performance above gave me a real chuckle. Jonah was a quality player and character. CAn we get him back in some capacity? I heard it talked about at one point.

I was at that game. I remember it was a big crowd and Wakering seemed to have a few fans aswell. Seemed to hate Hornchurch though.

 

One player who stood out that day for you was(and Urchino will back me up on this!) Tommy Dalgarno. Whats he doing now?

I think during the next preseason he fell off scaffolding at work and broke one of his legs in quite a few places , I think his leg is better now but he has not played since that day

I remember my first experience of all things Urchin was when I came on this forum after the Aveley game. What a bunch of nutters I thought!!!

 

Didn't a load of kids chuck bottles at the Aveley bench from what I remember?

Jonah was a diamond and cares passionately about HFC, that game against Aveley was a typical derby, Aaron Wright scored the winner, he played for us and went to Barking.

I remember your daisy cutter Magners so well, KW got the equaliser after Nicky Lowereeee put us in front.

Yeh you stopped us winning the league but maybe 10ins had a greater effect.

Anyway an exciting season, where were GWR at the end Magners and of course not forgetting good old Mick behind the bar.

Shall I go on or is that enough?

that was the first game i took that slapper amy to,my mate aaron scored the winner,still i think he bought me a pint to make up for it in the pub later that night!!

i remember being at this game with a dury falls/emerson park school reunuion pub crawl/footie day (11am start in the chequers),and remember having a beer on the touchline during the game.,,had our picture taken on the pitch after, made the recorder the week after,,ended up at a party in leigh on sea ,,sh##faced

the avely game was the first hx game for about 25 years .went to a few games per season after this game, but it is this season that ive really got into it. especially the banter on the eastside!
