OFFSIDE REF!!!

Thank you David, but I am aware that Spurs and Arsenal aren't squadrons of the R.A.F. In addition, I was aware that 617 Squadron were the Dambusters etc. Further, I don't believe that 617 Squadron are eligible to enter the F.A. Cup

According to [apologies it's on another page thing] Slartibartfastbart, neither Portsmouth or Mighty Gravesend are the correct answer to his question about the F.A.Cup. I offered Spurs and Arsenal as answers to that one.

I know that this is your game etc, DH, but you answered "Gravesend" at 10.56 and he said "Nope" at 10.58.

Now to my untrained eye, that means that Gravesend is the wrooooonnnnnnngggggg answer.

Anyway, apply logic. A team winning the F.A,Cup in two successive years, entered the thing in November or whenever in one year, won it in May the following year, continued their run the following November, won it again in the next May and were finally knocked out the following year. That's longer than 5 months and 27 days or whatever.

I hope that this wont affect my application to be appointed Director?

The UK was invaded during the second world war by the Germans

ALL the Channel Islands, (Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney and Sark).

Unknown to some, Alderney, towards the end of the occupation, housed an SS regiment who built a concentration camp to house the slave labour being used by the Germans. All the islanders from Alderney were moved to the other three. To this day, this matter is Verbotten in Alderney. They still deny it ever happened.

__________

My question.

In the United States, a breed of pedigree cat is known as the 'Shaded Silver'. By what name do we call this breed in the U.K. ('Er indoors and me used to breed 'em !)

Fact: Which team holds the record for the longest F.A. Cup run?

a). If a team wins the thing two years on the trot, that's a two year cup run in my book.

Fact: 10.56 Answer: Gravesend

Fact: 10.58 Nope

B). That suggests to me that one person answered Gravesend and the questioner replied in the negative. Therefore, unless the rules have changed, the person who answered incorrectly cannot ask another question.

So. What's the d*mned answer?

AH but the questioner specified that it ended with either the final or an ealier round indicating one season, and (and this is the clincher) the questioner is a Gravesend fan <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Actually AFF, the answer I was thinking of was the 'invasion' of Fishguard by 1400 French troops in 1797 who got drunk and mistakenly took a lot of Welsh women in tall hats for redcoats and were summarily rounded up and imprisoned.

Next question please. Oops, we still haven't answered Big JR's one about the cats.

Are they known as silver tabbys?

Nope Rob,

BUT if you check a breed-book, the breed numbers are VERY close.

(Clue: Think "James Bond" !)

No, not a shorthair !

Persian type, and another clue:-

It has the same name as a rodent that is kept as a pet, expensive, and has quite a short life span. Similar fur markings, hence the name.

Well done Rob ! The rodent is from South America, with long silky fur. The Chinchilla Cat on Donald Pleasance's lap in the Bond Film was 'Soloman' We have one of his Great Great Grand-Daughters in this house. [color:"blue"] (Soloman: Not Donald Pleasance ! Ha-Ha !)
