PREMIER DIVISION

2-1 Stotfold v Colney Heath

A report from another's Forum:

Spartan South Midland Premier Division

Stotfold 2 Colney Heath 1

Adm £5. Prog £1

Att 117.

Not a bad game but it came to life in the last couple of minutes.

Stotfold took the lead on 39 after Heath had dominated the early

exchanges.Hosts had a pen 4 mins later that was well saved by the

Heath 'keeper.

Second half Stotfold started well and managed to hang on until 88mins

when the odious no.10 equalised for the visitors much to the chagrin of

the home 'keeper who was almost as odious at times.

It looked like the visitors would be the most likely to get a winner but in

the 3rd min of added-on time the hosts scored to take it 2-1.

The major suprise was that we still had 22 players on the pitch at FT

considering we had a running battle between the home 'keeper and the away

10 neither of whom covered themselves in glory.

Roker Park was a real gem and was even better than expected and pretty

easy to get to as i took the 35min walk from Arlesey to the ground, the third

time i've had a long walk from Arlesey BR(previously Langford & Arlesey)

Grand day out with a gem and mild to boot.

St Margretsbury 2-3 Berkhamsted. Almost comical officiating led to both sides finishing with 10 men and a 4:57 finish, i hope the ref gets reported for his inability to control the match sensibly. Berko took an early lead but were soon pegged back then a speculative volley from distance gave Berko a 2-1 halftime lead. Berko stretched into a 3-1 lead with a breakaway goal and a penalty near the end gave Berko a nervous end to the game. Equally as comical as the ref was the pottymouth St Margertsbury managers reaction to being asked to keep his swearing under control to which he hopped over the rails and headed down the hard standing towards the Berko bench having to be held back by substitutes and a rather large guy who i guess must be their dietician.

I should've forgone the nice warm bar and come down for a watch... hmm maybe not! I saw a couple of your guys came over for quick watch before the main event started. Wasn't a great game and not much quality on show in out one. Still we came away with a comfortable 1-0 win, only that close due to some very dubious lino decisions!!

I played over at Maccabi (London Lions) place on Sunday. They got a great pitch setup over there, surfaces are excellent. Was badly let down though by no pressure for showers and plastic cups in the bar.

I played over at Maccabi (London Lions) place on Sunday. They got a great pitch setup over there, surfaces are excellent. Was badly let down though by no pressure for showers and plastic cups in the bar.

Played there on the last weekend in April & pitch was probably the best I'd seen all year, if its any consolation our showers were a mere dribble too

That must have been the rest of our support then......was almost embarrasing how few turned up as we have had reasonable travelling support this season.

You aint got a castle – Would you agree that Berkhamsted have been found out this season after those two successive promotions, did the Club assume they could just sweep through the Premier Division this season

And the injuries!!! lol. We only had 3 on the bench and one was the assistant manager. Ive heard nothing about getting a 3rd promotion from anyone associated with the club and the people who run it arent stupid by any means, even myself as a supporter and nothing more knew it would be tough this season. The only thing i heard was that the goal was to stay up this season then hopefully be a challenger in seasons to come. We have already beaten some decent sides this season so i think we may exceed expectations and finish top half of the table and id be surprised if we made top 6 then again its a funny old game sometimes.

Edited by you aint got a castle

One of the best playing surfaces in Berks and Bucks is Twyford they play in like North Bucks div 3, but the actual playing surface is a good as the best in SSML Prem and as good as some I've known in Southern too, groundsman looks after the cricket pitch too which explains it

SPARATAN SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE - DIVISION ONE

SATURDAY 12TH NOVEMBER 2011

STONY STRATFORD TOWN 2 KENTISH TOWN 0

Stony made it three league wins out of four with a brave display against attractive opponents who had little up front.

Early intent was shown by Stony when Dean Robb broke through only to hit the side netting but it was Kentish who took the game to the home side with some neat mid field passing. Stony nearly came to grief after 14 minutes when a goalmouth scramble was finally cleared by the home defence. Several corners followed as Kentish sensed a breakthrough but their final efforts let them down.

Kentish nearly paid the price for not converting pressure when a one-two between Josh Crawley and debutant Greg Tite on 37 minutes nearly ended up with a Stony goal but Crawley’s shot went wide.

This was a lesson for Kentish as Stony finally made the breakthrough on the stroke of halftime – a long ball from the back found Dean Robb on the right who cut in for goal to lay on a pass to Josh Crawley to slide the ball past a helpless Kentish keeper.

The second half was only two minutes old when Stony increased their lead when a well judged through ball found Greg Tite clear of defenders to fire home. Stony were still being out gunned in midfield but the Kentish attack looked stale. Another one two between Tite and Crawley but the latter’s effort was cleared.

The drama was saved for the final ten minutes as first a Kentish defender was sent off for two yellow cards followed by Luke Cunningham for similar offences but the second yellow was for a harsh push in the penalty area which resulted in a spot kick. The penalty was brilliantly saved by debutant keeper George Anderson diving to his left to keep out a strong shot.

Stony played out the final minutes to run out worthy winners.

Team: Anderson, Byrne, Sear(capt), Hayes, Cunningham, Castle, Garafolo, Robb, Williams, Crawley (Ward 77), Tite.
