AFC Dunstable v Dunstable Town - Your Predictions

Recommended Posts

It is the official grand opening of the £3.5 million Creasey Park stadium this Saturday, with the local mayor, Beds FA bigwigs and even Ray Clemence due to attend!

The climax being the first meeting of the co-inhabitants of Creasey, AFC v Dunstable. Naturally there is intense rivalry and there could even be big FIREWORKS pitchside, but just for fun and if you can be asked, then please provide your predictions for the final result. To assist you with this, both teams have scored goals for fun this season, although don't forget AFC have home advantage :-)

Sorry can I stir up a potential hornets best for the sake of debate? Do these clubs if they have aspirations to play higher in the pyramid given the new stadium and size of the town need to merge to stand a real chance?? The two Aylesbury clubs it has been debated fiercely!!

Dunstable Town have for now at least the finance and ambition to step up now, but maybe lack the infrastructure of AFC in terms of committe numbers, youth structure and coaching staff.

AFC have great all-round infrastucture, but lack the finance and probably need to prepare longer and get more experience at this level before looking to step up.

So if the two were combined it sounds like they would be a real force. AFC Dunstable Town????

Definately not from AFC's perspective. Many in AFC have been part of a family club for many years and have been rewarded for their hard work by coming thru the leagues and being part of a brilliant spanking new stadium. They strongly wish to keep their own identity and have the personel both on and off the field to progress further when and if the opportunity arises. The players are mostly young, local, and have also remained extremely loyal to AFC even though they have been offered money to go elsewhere and/or play at a higher level. The only downside is the Chairman is a slap-head and the coach Justin is not the greatest of role models -, he has to be the tubbiest coach in the whole of Bedfordshire....you can't have everything I s'pose!
