ref's and Lino's

We all moan at the ref and lino, but without them trying to carry out the rules what sort of a game would we have.

 

But then again if you asked a Ref and Lino did they cover up a mistake, what sort of an arguement would you then have, if they admitted it.

 

The other thing is would they give back there wages if they were that bad

 

Bit like a cabbie learning the knowledge and a ref learning the all the rules, how do we know if they are carrying them out to the letter of the law

 

Opinions I suppose and hopefully a bit of common sense, does it happen !!!!!!!!!!

 

Or is it that we only care about the team we support and cannot take defeat gracefully.

 

I dont know, as everyone sees a game of football differently, even the person next to me

 

What do you think then

I understand and have pointed out on other threads that we need referees more than any one player. A game can continue if a player is sent off but has to stop if there is no referee. They do an admirable job and I think that all football fans appreciate then and can excuse mistakes.

 

But that does not mean that a referee is beyond criticism because of his/her exalted position in the game. What fans want to see is consistency. And what would be nice is if there was some kind of link to a loudspeaker system such as American football where the officials can explain some of their decisions.

 

Yesterday the ref gave a penalty to Sawbo for, it is surmised pushing in the box, fair enough he gave it as he saw it and best of luck to him. There was not that much moaning from the fans though some were perplexed to say the least.

 

A little later a cross came in with Deano, (one of the smallest players on the pitch) one on one with the goalkeeper. The keeper should have got the ball without resorting to fouling however he pushed Deano out of the way with his arms around Deano's shoulders. Perhaps the ref didn't see it but what about the lino - the same lino that missed a blatent offside for Town's second goal.

 

Then the lino officiating at the Town end in the first half must have had cramp in his arms as he gave nothing for high tackles, Dave Allen tripped as he was going through etc. But that cramp helped in the second half as has been said he did not raise his flag for the offside "goal". But why was he officiating at the Town end in both halve. When was custom changed so that lino's take the same attacking team in both halves.

 

There are often flag happy lino's and like yesterday lino's that suffer from cramp if they officiate for the same attacking team in both halves that is unfair.

 

Now let us take Deano's second red card - what was it for? I think it was mistaken identity as people that know the Town will know that there is a strong likeness in physique between Deano and Rudi Hall. Yesterday it was Rudi that threw his toys out of the pram when Graeme Hall was fouled but he did not even get spoken too. As far as I could make out Deano was nowhere near the incident and was certainly a long way away when he was called to get his second yellow card. Perhaps they both should have been booked? But that would have meant another Town player being sent off.

 

There was an incident off the ball yesterday between Deano and a Sawbo defender. I clearly saw the Sawbo defender apparently stongly retaliating and both players were spoken to but no names went in the book. It happened fairly early in the game and if both had been booked the rest of the game may not have been so bad tempered.

 

So the ref yesterday had a bad game, next week he may have a good one, but judging on yesterday's performance I doubt it. Should these refs be officiating at this level or are they too inexperienced?

 

This appears to be knocking the ref but we have had good refs this season and when there is a good ref the game takes on a whole new aspect. It is better and supporters go home feeling that the result has been determined by the football and not by the officials. We all go to matches to see a good game where the 22 players decide the winner not the referee!

A lino was used at a ESL match I went to see just before Christmas last year and two weeks prior he had ref a youth match under 15's, I also watched, when he booked 5 players of the away team,ok one booking was right the others all of which were in the same ten minutes for decent, found out he was being accessed by a referee instructor, when the ref was given his mark which some people would have given a flat Zero the team manager gave a 4, as he had carried out various standard requirements but not carried out the rules of the game or in the right way,only to see the league chuck out all bookings and common sense took place.Hence no fines.

 

So what I fail to see is that the lad had a bad game, that day, and made a few mistakes when I was watching the ESL match, but we all have got to learn from our mistakes, unless you are GOD I suppose.I am told made no mistakes.

 

Sad thing is the money doesnt attract ref's all £25, would you suffer the crap for it.

 

I ref loads of mini soccer games in the past and the parents are worse than the kids and so it goes on up to senior level.

 

So how do you not know the poor ref or lino might have had a domestic with his partner before he comes out to ref the game, and taking out on everyone.

 

I dont Ref now either, WOULD YOU, but then, funny old game of football.

 

Bet if you were to watch your actions from CCTV monitor, you would be surprised.

 

BUT WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES DONT WE, SOME MORE THAN OTHERS, 'the poor old ref I hear you say' thought I share my thoughts with you all on that

I agree refs do have a difficult job but their inconsistent use of the laws baffles me they seem to be swayed by the loudest appealing team on the pitch the assistant refs only make decisions with their flag once the ref has made his decision why cant they flag what they see and everyone would be so much happier , so any refs reading this forum take note the best refs are the ones we dont notice. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/yeahthat.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/yeahthat.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/yeahthat.gif" alt="" />

I still cant see how although we had three players beyond the defence for our second goal they could be offside as the were never ahead of the ball.When Asa flicked it on with a outstretched foot Paul Campbell was level with him.

 

If a ref makes a mistake everybody goes on about it but no one is blaming a player like chopper who twice hit a sawbo player with clearences and was lucky neither ended in a goal.

Brunob. The fact is that all three Town players were initially offside when then first ball was played over the top before Asa headed it to campbell (who looked a least two yards infront of Asa's header,as well)

So, guys, everyone berates match officials and feels qulaified to state that were wrong and so on. These officials have of course attended a training course and passed written and oral examinations in the Laws of the game, procedure and how to conduct themselves etc, they are wholly neutral, and are much closer to almost all incidents than spectators.

 

Clearly however the spectators, without the benefit of any of the above, cannot agree on what happened, i.e. what they saw!

 

No wonder there's a shortage of refs....
