Why on earth not? You should be constantly looking out for all sorts of hazards, warning signs and whatever. It should be second nature so that you're not aware that you're doing it. If you're doing that you'll see the cameras and the speed limit signs without any extra effort on your part. If you're not doing that you're not fit to be on the roads.

Too right....3,000+ people a year die on the roads and the government do bugger all about it...Yet holier than thou Roy Castle gets the big C and blames it on passive smoking and now they are trying to stop me smoking in a pub.

Like the previous post re pedestrians crossing the road, life is 7-4 against and sh!t happens.

Who started this??? Oh forgot...He who shall not be named.

And if one person dies in a train crash all hell breaks loose about improving safety (even if the accident is caused by a motorist dodging level crossing barriers). Multiple standards all round, I'm afraid.

I drive a special needs school bus, one night last year I was taking my last 4 year old home, she became unwell, so I speeded up and crossed a speed camera, flash off it went, when I appealled against it and said my duty of care, the police werent interested nor my boss, stick to the speed limit, great care in the community I thought, £60 light and 3 points, but there again I care about my clients too much, Is there any justice in the World

Tom.Would you find it slightly patronising,if i lectured you on how you should (or shouldn't) use public transport. As you have much more knowledge on the workings of the sytsem and how to make it better...etc.

I find it slightly patronisng when non-car users think they know best regarding car and road travel.
Did anyone see in the news last week, when a motoring group decided on direct action ,and got scores of members to drive along at a constant 70 mph on a busy motorway for 4 hours (M1 i think) making sure the trafffic never broke the speed limit.Just to show the government how out of date the regulation is.suprise suprise. With 1/2 an hour, they had 5 miles of tailbacks behind them.

Also Tom,Looking out for speed cameras, and the subsiquent braking movement in order to be under the limit by the time a driver reaches the camera,is well known to cause many accidents. That why they are banned on motorways.

Wasn't Roy Castle sucking in the smoke through his trumpet ?

The deep inhailing of the smoke, plus breathing brass polish fumes .

For what must be the first time ever I am agreeing with everything Lovely Stuff says. I don't disagree with speed cameras outside schools, shopping centres, hospitals etc... that's perfectly understandable. But cameras on the gantry on the M25 by Heathrow for example- disgraceful.
