Tonight's game

I was very happy with yesterdays performance, but it just lacked that edge in the final third again. We need a big win on saturday to get back amongst the goals. Over the last month we have played the big 3 Chelmsford, AFC Wimbledon and Bromley and we have got 5 points out of those, which i think is pretty good (I would have settled for 4). We needed another man in the middle up front yesterday, but never got it. My M.O.T.M has to go to James Pinnock, i thought he was superb.

Cookie not sure where you get this 0 in attendances but before last night out last 3

homes games were Chelmsford (796), Fleet (535) and AFC Wimbledon (1385), cant see any 0's in there <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Sorry just an observation myself lol

On the game I thought the team worked their socks of competing for every ball. I agree with Chris that Smith had a good game, made a lovely left footed cross in first half showing he can use both feet. Abbott I thought played one of his better games and the midfield definately looks better with Proths in there. Pinnock as usual ran & ran, where does he get his stamina from. All in all for me a good point against a strong team

A few random observations from me :

A decent point with a bit of a 'sratch team'-boy-our- squad is so thin.

Jackson was impeccable at left back and my mom, followed by RT and also CW made some good covering tackles and looked quite quick at times.

Smith was more than capable aswell-alot to learn , but think he will 'make it',as his confidence grows.

SCS good again.I thought his headed clearance from about 25 yards out was remarkably brave as the forward was right on top of him when he headed it-heart went in mouth-very very brave keeping that one.

Well played the defence.

4 games without conceding gives confidence and a firm foundation to rest of the team to be able to push on a bit .

Inevitably one or two dubious decisions, but i give alot of credit to referee in particular plus linesmen-kept the game flowing and made firm correct decisions-best ref and team i've seen for ages.

You can't beat class-its easy to flatter in 15 minutes, but we looked a different and vastly superior side with Oates on in place of Robinson.Oates managed three crosses-has physical and mental presence as opposed to hiding out wide in no-mans land, and can help defend.

I hate to be critical, but frankly patience has worn thin and we cannot perservere with Robinson.Yiga offers more, but again in 15 minutes, Greg looked more than capable in that position. On the other flank, Abbott both got in postions to receive the ball, and to be in an area to stop the opposition playing up the flank but Robinson just does not seem to have any positional sense.

Must be equally frustrating for Yiga not to get on.

I can't see where we are going to score goals from, but not a disaster as long as we don't concede-if we scrape 1-0 wins that will do for me.

Any news on the other forgotten man-Sesay ?

Where was Dean Standen tonight-hopefuly no problem there. I note that he did not appear on a previous Tuesday night game

Overall ,happy with the point

Reading my post, realised I had forgotten to mention Jackson, once again a fine game from him especially as playing out of position. A nice bloke too, always got time to chat to the fans in the bar afterwards

Jacko was outstanding. One minute at the heart of it in defence and then the next he would be supporting Abbo and putting a cross into the box. Trotty and Wild both solid. Plenty of talking which we like to hear. Scott in goal again pretty much faultless. Fourth clean sheet in a row and he deserves it. Keeps his concentration and if he keeps his feet on the ground he's got a big future.

Proths, Jay and Macca were all very good. They didnt give Bromley any time and the distribution was good. We were up against a good side so we weren't going to be outplaying Bromley by any stretch.

Abbo worked his socks off and so did Pinns up front. Impressive work rate from both the lads.

Thought Louis Smith and Robinson were ok. Hopefully they learned a lot from last night and they can use it to develop their games for the battles ahead. They won't face many tougher tests in this league.

Am looking over the past games Alan incl.last season & not just the last few games.I notice you conveniently left out the two games prior to those you mention to try & prove YOUR point.Take a look deeper & you will see MY point.
It is also noted that when this has been brought to peoples attention in a similar fashion this year as was last year the figure then went from being just over the hundred to just below the hundred. It occurred almost exactly as was last season.Thats a FACT as well as an observation.!
Of course its not going to happen everytime as that really would look a bit too obvious.

Home games this season:
V East Thurrock att.702
V Slough att.709
V Chelmsford att.796
V Fleet att.535
V AFC Dons att.1385
V Bromley att.603

I make that 3 figures of just OVER the hundred & 2 figures of that just BELOW the hundred out of 6 games.Last year was a similar trend. Please feel free to check it out for yourself.
Am sure that these figures will now revert to the middle hundreds from now on since its been mentioned again.
Maybe its just that we get the same people coming week in week out & that could be the explanation for the consistency.Or is there another reason?
There you go clever clogs!

Sorry, can't buy it - a load of stuff in the shape of a sphere. And not sure what anyone has to financially gain by exagerating an attendance figure excpet perhaps at cup games when of course the opposition are there anyway!

For clarity I can confirm that attendance was 603 (about 200 up on last year's equivalent game, interestingly) and I did NOT announce a figure as I didn't have it until around 10 mins after full time.

Exaggerating Steve? I think you meant to say the opposite there did you not.I didnt compare a game from last season with last nights at this time of the year Steve.

My point to you Alan is that if you wish to try belittle me(another observation)then at least get the overall facts right to go with the point I'm trying to make & dont pick & choose att.figures to suit or to do that.

As I say I look at the deeper overall picture & not just 3 games worth.I never ever said it would occur EVERYTIME time did I?

All this about att.figures I do with tongue-in-cheek anyway as it would be unwise to state the obvious, for obvious reasons.

Am not going to mention this again for a while as it has been mentioned enough times now & taken on board I would have thought.Am beginning to feel an Abdulla coming on.....Getting the "hump".

trott our best player by a mile and wild was much better tonite.robinson gives the team nothing im afraid he just stands and waits for the ball instead of trying to getitand when he does get it dosnt know what to do with it.pinnock works tirelessly but his first touch is poor if he works on this he will be top class.good hard won point but it shows the frailties of our squad.brayley a total [****!!****] i heard hes gone to stevenage well good riddance
