Referee for Cambridge United...

Recommended Posts

Nothing surprises me with Conference referees these days. Barely a one is any use.

The last consistently good ref I have seen at Fleet was Mt G Singh, think he is at Championship level now, but their gain is our loss.

Hope for a clean game tommorrow. If the tackles start flying of anyone starts getting lippy, they can expect the worst.

Worst ref has got to be Mr. Lee, who, if my memory serves me correctly (it did with the Jamie Guy scenario grin), indicated 2 minutes of stoppage time when we were 1-0 up at Farnborough (1st or 2nd season back in the Conference, pretty sure it was the first?), and played something ridiculous like 9 minutes, in which Farnborough equalised (thus confirming they were safe from relegation) and we hit the post through Rob Howarth, who I think was making his debut?

That linesman was Mr Lee!

He couldn't possibly have seen that goal, the Manchester United scarf that he was wearing to cover his Manchester United tattoos was obscuring his vision of one end of the field.

But then he did see the ball (just) cross the line when we won 2-1 at Northwich.

We can only hope that influential people such as Mr Moules report what they see to the league , and get this moron thrown off the register.

He was embarrassing.

Luckily both teams played excellent football in spite of him.

The video of some of the bookings needs to be shown to his employers.

Anyone else performing that badly at work would get the sack.

The guy was a nightmare!

He actually showed Gash a yellow twice while booking him which (in theory anyway) meeans he booked him twice!

The FA are asking players to show respect to the referee this season, but how the Hell can anyone show an official any respect if he only appears to be able to control a game by showing cards all over the place?

At least he was universally bad for both sides who genuinely seemed bemused by many of his decisions!

The only thing he did get right was the red card which was a nasty two footed challenge (I was directly in line with it and thought that Sacha was lucky to be able to walk of the pitch.)

It seems strange to say in a game of 8 bookings that it was the ONLY bad tackle of the night!

The only other cards that were deserved were Sacha's (a slightly late challenge) and their centre half for pulling back Ibe.

I suppose you could argue the dissent cards were deserved as well, but boy was he quick off the mark with Long's - I suspect Stacy said simply "Oh for F's sake!" or something similar which was not specifically aimed at the ref, which doesnt warrant a card in my view.

If the ref had applied the same logic to every bit of physical contact in the game, the only players left unbooked at the end of the game would have been the 2 keepers !

The only thing he did that I wished every ref would do was firmly count out 10 yards at free kicks -and he'd clearly laid down the law before the match on that as the walls always seemed to set up at least 8 yards back when normally they'd only stand 5 yds back and refuse to budge when told. Most refs then cave in and leave the defending team with the advantage so he did get 1 thing right!

Didn't he count 10 yards for a Fleet kick, than seemed to "add one for luck"? Which is what had the crowd counting them out to check!
