Is this the same Pier Angelini that crossed my path walking into Sainsburys with his wife in Hoddesdon not a month or so ago, went bright red, stared at the ground, refused to have a conversation with me and beat a hasty retreat into Britains 2nd biggest Supermarket, depsite me calling him an old t?ss3r, to his "face" as he walked past me........?? They may or may not get promoted, personally I think its too early and close to call and will quite happily talk about Hoddesdon Town as a football club and the team both of which are good set ups that others could learn from(before anyone starts im not saying the set up is perfect but it is good) but I for one dont want to get involved anymore in the uneducated, stupid and bitter comments that Wooden spoon or Pier make. We have known each other for a few years, mainly due to the fact that I am close friends with his 2 sons. In fact, I was the one who recommended him to my chairman to come and join our commitee. It didnt work out, Pier has his own views on how the club should run and thats that. He is entitled to his opinion, all be it if I think there are better ways to express it. By Piers own admission, he loves a bit of banter and causing a stir and so I take none of it personally (you wanna see the facebook messages I have from him!!) Havin said all that, Im quite taken with the boxing idea. All proceeds to charity. The pre fight press conference in Sainsburys went as well as could be expected, none of the major broadcasters or promoters turned up for the event though, which was largely disappointing. Im predicting a points decision in favour of myself, although if Pier has had a few Stella's, it could go either way. Haye V Harrison was "The Best of Enemies".............. He came in at just under 7st, but there was a punnet of strawberrys in there at the same time. I however, broke the scales so officially I am listed as 17 stone plus. I dont think you can describe it as the Hoddesdon U18s Xmas dinner Pier, seeing as it wasnt organised by anyone associated with the club!! Why would anyone official from the club turn up? Dont think the commitee socialising with the ex youth team manager is a good idea, especially seeing how he was removed from his position!! Might have caused some crossed swords!! We have a new u18 manager running the side now and we retained 95% of the squad (the other 5% being the ex managers son) and they are all off to the official club xmas dinner in the next few weeks.
