Hall, Allen, Butler, Gant, Baldwin, Negus, Nyman, Hall, Smith, Wright, Ndombe, Pamplin, Davies, Massala, Austin, Snowden.

Gate 249

A comfortable win that sets town up nicely for the Abbey.

On 10 minutes Chopper came out of his area to clear the ball with his upper torso. The Manor Bench got rather excited believing Chopper had handled and the lino seemed to be in agreement with him. Fortunately the Ref being closest was less convinced. It would have been a harsh decision to go against Chopper but this really was the only way Manor had a chance of winning today.

Carey Wright going for a ball got a high kick in the teeth which left him a bit dazed.

On 23 minutes Matty Negus had a high ball coming down and sublimely nailed it passed the keeper. 1 - 0.

On 29 minute Philips got one back left with a simple tap in past Chopper. 1 - 1.

Gant was pulling off some important tackles in defence cleanly to much applause.

On 39 Minutes David Allen pick the ball up in midfield weaved his way through the tacklesuntil in a 1 on 1 with the keeper where he tucked it under him in a lovely finish. 2 - 1

On 43 minutes Matty Negus and the number 4 came charging in to cross the ball over the line. 3 - 1. at half time.

Second half Rudi Hallpicked the ball up in the Centre Circle danced through the tackles until one on one with the keeper and slotted it home 4 -1. It felt like Rudi wanted Kevin to know he could do the same thing and if he wanted the no 8 shirt it wasn't on offer.

Seb Ndombe on the edge of the box facing the wrong way silkily turned a shot in one move wowing the fans unfortunately not beating the keeper ion this occasion.

Adam Gant off and Jacquo Massala on.

Shortly after Lee Smith was booked and Peter Davies came on.

Thirdly Seb NDombe off and Asa Pamlin on. Chants of "6 foot two eyes of blue Asa Pamplins after you rang out as Town fans taunted the Southend Manor players. Asa was immediately given offside as he pushed up. New boy Butler shot just wide in his maiden match. David Allen then shot wide. Dean Nyman did a jinking run and shot straight at the keeper. Peter Davies had a similar type of ball to Matty earlier unfortunately it did not fall so kinly and the volley went at the keepr

Asa Pamplin then vollied wide. Manor were roasted! 3 points to town

An exciting first half (well what I saw as LMH was enjoying selling 50:50 tickets). Second half was won early on and the rest of the game was stale. With the Chopper incident in the first half, I can onaly presume that Chopper was done for obstruction as if it was a handball then he should have gone. The ref gave a freekick so it must have been one or the other. Either the ref gave obstruction or he was p**sed!

I thought it hit Choppers chest. Regarding sendings off for keepers handling outside the area. Apparently the directive from the FA this year is that a sending off is only appropriate IF it stops a clear goal scoring oppotunity.

A far as i could see today the ref DID blow for handball.Even if he didn't think it was a goal scoring oppotunity ,surely he should still have booked the keeper for handball.

I personally think the ref instictivly blew for handball. Then realised he had made a mistake, and took the easy way out by awarding a free kick and no booking.

If it was obstruction then he should have held his arm up to signal the kick was indirect but he didnt.

Great result for the Towner's. Also good to see Asa getting some attention, got a lot of time for the man.

Well Done Etfc, hopefully have softened Southend up for the Manor next week. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" />

ASKED PETER HAMMETT in the bar after the game about the players missing and he told us Brad Stuart and Rids out long term Russell kevin PAUL Cambell , and Graham hall could all figure on tuesday if Jims decides to use them and the lad Greg Pryce is waiting international clearance from the swedish F.A.

Let's have Penn and Gant in the middle of the back four next Saturday with Butler at left back and Allen at Right back and all will be well.

Strange decisions yesterday or what?

Game is stopped for physios to come on and treat head wounds. Andy Hall stands with the ball in his hands waiting for the treatment to end. When it ends, the referee allows him to just kick the ball upfield where we nearly score! I do not think the Manor would have been too happy!

As for the handball! What would we have done after Andy should have been sent off? Is Billy Cove around?
