Do you mean that place where you can 'take a running jump' and not cause offence? 'Throw' caution to the wind when overcoming all 'barriers' and 'discus' the merits of promotion by being 'first across the finishing line?'

Maybe we could 'putt' it to the Council and 'sprint' ahead with some suggestions?

Consideration was given to a site between Hoe Lane and Turkey Street before.
Problem again with access.
Costs made it a non-starter.
Couldn't possibly get coaches in this site .The access from the A 10 was closed due to the bridge crossing the new river being too weak. Also coaches couldn't possibly make the turn from bulls cross lane into turkey street.

well you have missed the blindingly obvious stadium that has:-
* more than adequate lighting
* sufficient car parking
* good quality pitch
* owned by Enfield Council

well.....
I Hope your landlords get wind of what your up to. Bad news for your hosts, and very typical of you enfield towns.

I'm sure other more knowledgeable people may know of non-league clubs in the same boat as ourselves, and how they got their sites- I'm thinking Chelmsford or Wealdstone.

Chelmsford are utilizing an exisiting athletics stadium which is undergoing the necessary improvements to stage football matches. I am unsure what ground grading the club are seeking but I imagine it would be Step 2 (currently playing at Step 3).

Reading Freebirds request for the whereabouts of photos from Enfields Southbury Rd days,got me thinking.

'How much do the current EFC own of what was at Southbury Rd.When it comes to Memrobilia,Photos,Trophies,awards..etc, did Laz keep and/or dispose of the lot.Or do the current EFC regime have possession of Trophies and such like,and if so,where do they keep them'.

Also,do EFC maintain detailed statistics from the last 50 years.Players,appereances,goals,England caps..etc,because most of the old 'stats men' switched to Enfield Town.Were any stats handed back

I know alan farmer is keeping all the records up to date, as for the other stuff who was clearing it all out of stouthbury road at the end. does Roy Butler have any idea he was around at the end and having been with the club a long time i am sure he would not have let anythng go in the skip.

it may be worth someone asking him, Roger Read and Alan Diament may have some idea as well.

I would be nice to get all the stuff in one place, and as i said some is mine so i would like to find it if possable and get it all back.

I remember Rob the gateman and a few friends helping Lazarou dispose of the starlight stuff from a container in Cheshunts car park a few years ago,maybe some of the memorobilia from the bar was stored with the starlight stuff as well.Did they keep many items as keepsakes ?

I've got a big wooden sign advertising the starlight suite (originally used next to the town park paddling pool),if thats any help.
