But the movement of control of EFC to the Gang of Four remains a bit of a grey area. There seems to have been little evidence that the Liquidator or Receiver made much effort to get the best price for any of the club's remaining assets. I wonder how much in the £ the preferential creditors got?

The problem here is that liquidators are under as much pressure to get things done as anybody else in business these days. The thing to look out for when a company goes under and a new one is formed is whether the original owner has managed to buy back the assets at a knock-down price and whether there is evidence of collusion between the company or owner and the liquidator.

There is also a question as to what assets the old club still retained. It didn't own its own ground and I suspect the office was rented as well. If any players were on contracts there would have been the value of their depreciated transfer fees which have to be capitalised, possibly the value of their signing on fees although that may have been put on the p&l instead, but there wouldn't be a great deal else. Goodwill? That would have been low as well. As far as preferential creditors, I don't know who would count as one since the Enterprise Act came in. FA rules would have "football creditors" as the main ones and I believe they would have to be paid 100p in the pound.

A big FOUR posts.<img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" />

What worries do Town have?? In the long term, EFC need a merger more than Town do
,but I fear the 'merger boat' has more than likely sailed.I won't lose any sleep over it.I know that an olive branch was offered in the past by my club, thats good enough for me.

Onwards and upwards !
Why do you boys keep saying we need a merger ? your people were told NO . Its not going to happen and like I said in the above post you will only merge with brimsdown rovers as its the only way you can secure a home ground.

Not everyone wants the merger only a small number, not all towners, and there would be nothing wrong with a merger with Brimsdown rovers, it might be the only way EITHER of us would get a ground in Enfield.
