Rip off Aveley

Mr Happy

Recommended Posts

I paid £8 at Enfield and I did not hear any complaints.

But at £8 entry inc programme, is Aveley really so expensive?

Programmes are on average £1.50 so that makes the actual entry fee £6.50 which is only 50p more than for home games.

I thought the idea is to support the Urchins away from home - is it really worth a boycott for the sake of 50p ?

As for Canvey there is plenty of free parking in the very near vicinity.

We had exactly the same last season - some clubs raised the price by £1, others charged for the programme which normally they would give away.

But surely what really matters is that the team gets the away support it deserves.

Exactly. Surely the point is to get behind your players? I must admit I'm a bit suprised that so many people are hung up over £1 or £2 for an away game. I can understand peoples reluctance at buying a programme or food however but there is plenty of other free parking available.

Hornchurch have chosen a different formula - keep it cheap and people will return. Our club, now run by supporters, chose to charge a bigger entrance fee based upon a lot of uncertainties with the main aim to survive this season. I think the club will only be able to tell if this decision was correct come the end of the season.

I'd also point out that unlike a number of clubs in the ESL that saw Hornchurch as a cash cow we aren't raising the prices for the bigger supported clubs like Hx, Enfield Town or Sudbury - we are ripping you all off at the same price <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> so at least we are consistent.

1. I don't recall any clubs in the ESL ripping us off as you are planning to do (even Tilbury didn't charge for parking!).

2. Survival seems to be an issue for you, given recent results! You may need some friends soon!!

Discuss.

i stopped going to premiership footy because it is a rip off,the minute non league becomes the same way i will stop going there and it will be a sad day

How can anyone justify an £8-9 charge to stand in a decrepid football ground in ryman one north,i have to say that i will probably go to aveley but i will begrudginly pay the £9(without a programme coz i don't want one)and make my feelings known to the aveley owners

If anyone could have the cheek to charge that amount it should surely be us as we probably have the best facilities in the league by a mile!

Its not allways as black and white as following your team, there are other aspects like money and feeling ripped off, which is what most hornchurch fans will feel when they go through the turnstiles on monday,i urge as many hornchurch fans to boycott the game from the bar until they put the price down!!

further to my last comment i am not too sure on the canvey theme of boycotting that game coz i am not too sure on what their facilities are this season as i haven't been there since the ryman premier,i would of thought the facilities there are of a higher order than most because of their conference status the last couple of years,so i shall attend that game, but having been to aveley before the facilities are some of the worst i have encountered outside of the ESL,and there are clubs like burnham and stanstead to name a couple with better facilities by far

going back to dagsys point regarding the £8 entrance but a programme thrown in

Some people like myself don't buy programmes, that should be our choice,a club shouldn't use a programme as a sweetner to charge an extortionate amount for a ryman 1 north game.

I was under the impression it is £9 anyway and not £8

i meant at aveley and not canvey

I can maybe sympathise more with canvey as they were a conference side last season and must of had the ground up to conference standard to stay there for a couple of years but a team like aveley should be doing everything in their powers to try and get people through the gates, not persuade them to stay away, which is what they are doing
