Erhh. After THREE games without a goal,Jim may ahve sought to bring someone into the club who is a natural goalscorer...Shock horror.

How easily all you forget how valuable Clarkes goals were in relation to Enfield Town winning most of their trophies in the last 4 seasons.

Correction. His goals were valuable in our winning trophies in our first two seasons. Last season he was poor. He is a one dimensional player and has been found out by most other ESL defences. He also causes problems in the dressing room that will have a knock on effect on the pitch.

Whats the matter happy. Has Clarkey presonally upset you in any way?...With respect ,none of the fans know what goes on in the changing room.Thats just hear'say and conjecture. So Clarke didn't help us win ONE trophy. I sure Jim Cunneen can tell us all exactly how many of our six other trophies he DID help us win.

"with respect" we can actually all know what goes on in the changing rooms as sometimes its so blood obvious and also u if you chat to the players then you may find things out; i've never heard about Clarke; what he's like in changing rooms; but i know he aint the most welcomed back player from many at the club.

yes he scored, BUT how good is he for the club? seriously.

What planet are you on LS? The downward trend in Clarkes stats is there for all to see. No, he hasn't upset me personally but I do think that other teams defences have wised up to him. With regards to his effect on other players, you could see from when he came back last season that the team was affected on the pitch. The likes of Cove were totally fed up with his selfish play.

To be fair Smith is on a downward trend from the previous season. Would you advocate that we get rid of him because of that.

It's a proven fact that Clarke has the best goals per game record of ANY striker ever to play for ETFC. If he was playing against W.Abbey or EFC last week,do you think that he would not have caused much more of a threat than the stikers we had playing for us in those games. He would have skinned Al-James and Macca for fun.

Oh well working on that philosophy lets see if we can tempt Graham Westley down to Brimmo!
After all his goal/game ratio was good too!

If he comes back, and if he scores a hatful in a few games, how many anti-Clarkies will be willing to change their mind about him? Personally, I'm undecided, as I don't really know enough about how the current squad interacts and how Clarkey would (or wouldn't) fit in to the dynamic. I have my own opinions about CLarke as a player - I don't think he's a very determined player, and doesn't always go the extra mile, but when he's in form, hecan win the game.

I appreciate your honesty. In football, it only takes 90 minutes for people's opinions to change.

we still need a striker. is dc the answer?

You're right, we need one! JC doesn't seem to be able to get a quality striker from higher up or lower down the pyramid. In fact he's brought in a succession of poor players up front - the Acquahs, Wayne Grant, to name but three. It's quite simple: Clarke is the best striker JC can persuade to play for ETFC at the moment.

When he played last season Clarke was consistently unlucky. Countless times he was through one-on-one and an awful bobble at the last moment threw him off. This in turn disheartened him, and we all know how important confidence is to any player - perhaps even more so with him.

I think the Brimmo pitch is that much better and Clarke will get back scoring. Let's face it, he's better than Pamplin and Adombe and has the pace to frighten defenders at this level - something which Smith doesn't have.
