wow! and you guys think this is "news" as it appears in the Gazette? maybe somethings have been considered and discussed for months, and maybe all of the above concerns have been considered, with all parties concerned, and maybe as a club we are not quite dumb enough to enter into an agreement that does not take OUR club forward, and maybe if you are in the Hollybush tonight...........

How do you know it will,or will not, take OUR club forward, without discussing it?

It seems The Gazette knows more about whats going on than some of our board.Take the Barnet fixture for example.

Southport seems to be suggesting that the board have been in discussion (about the story in the Gazette) for several months and have unilaterally decided to reject it.I sincerly hope this is not the case, and that society members were not informed or asked for their opinions as to the proposal.

IF Our board have made a dicison (on our behalf) about this proposal (if there was a proposal) then the society members as a whole should be informed of it and why the board came to their conclusion. Not just those who want to join the inner circle at the Hollybush.

Information should only be kept from society members in rare circumstances, where revealing info could hurt or hinder future plans. It seems at present, that keeping most members in the dark,is common and standard practice by the board, and only in rare circumstances do they actually reveal or realese any information to the wider membership.

whilst I accept that our club is designed to be a democratic club the board are elected to examine things that come up and make decisions on our behalf. I think (personal opinion here, willing to be discussed and have mind changed, accepting others have a right to an opposite viewpoint etc etc)that sometimes things need to be kept quiet until everything is in place or rejected. It COULD be wrong to get peoples hopes up, only to find the ideas are unworkable, untenable etc. It could also be that it might be dangerous to alert others outside of the club as to what might be going on.A forum, such as this, which is open to everyone is far too broad a spectrum (from the point of view of outsiders) to discuss anything potentially sensitive and there are only a minority of Society members who use it anyway.Consultation is a difficult thing and timing is equally so.

Where the board draws the line on matters for public consumtion is a fine line and one that is difficult to balance. Remember I am not on the board. or part of any inner circle, so have no axe to grind either way here but have held many similar positions. I accept your view LS but ask you to appreciate how difficult it will always be on telling everyone what is happening at appropriate times.

We have to trust the people elected to do what they feel is right for the club.

If you want to you can always stand yourself and influence the way these decisions are made.

LS

Inner circle at the Holly Bush!!!!

My wife will be pleased to hear that she is part of an inner circle. So will Dave D, alias Beardsley, who got there all the way from his new digs in Old Kent Road!. Then there was Tacco who apologised for not going to work at the ground during the last few weeks because of his own work commitments and don't forget Eric who has taken up residency at Brimmo and is painting the changing rooms as we speak.

Inner circle indeed.

If you're willing to stand for election to the Board, I'll gladly propose you.
If you're willing to go & join other Towners for a drink on a Thursday I'll gladly buy you a drink.

I know Middlesex have not had the best start, but if we lose to the Yorkies in two days I won't be a happy bunny.
