urchins v northwood

I havent gone through the thread containing the commentary, but for me its easy to sum up. Simply not good enough. I know we had a makeshift team and were carrying a few knocks, but Northwood were poor. Number 10 and Number 5 were good players, but beyond that they were very average.

For me, two of our midfielders were simply not in the game, as they have not been every time I've seen them and with their background its just not good enough. The two goals they got were through lax defending on our part, kind of understandable with a makeshift defence, but we just did not look much like winning to me.

The penalty miss summed it up for me, just not there.

Somehow, we have to regroup for the Dons game. They would blow Northwood away and if we are not careful we'll have a really tough time of it on Saturday.

Final note, well done to Kris Lee, he tried his hardest tonight and bagged a great goal and gained us the penalty. For me, he should have taken it, but hey ho, I'm not in charge.

thought as well, that we couldve played better.

Tho the thing that has annoyed me most from the game is how about 5 players from Northwood got away with kicking our Elliot in the head and yet Elliot recieves the booking (yellow card)!!

angry

Any way i hope Elliot isnt hurt to badly!!

From how mitch has explained it, we have played our wide men out the game again?? Pretty football might not always work, but when you have the ability to play teams out the game always

Works best imo.

From what i've seen, and heard lately our style has not made the grade....let's hope with cup distractions out of the way, we can push on and do well in the league

I have to agree that I fear that ref more than the opposition.

He was dire.

I commented on our forum that I fear Northwood more than Hornchurch on tonight's display. The difference is that you have so many injured players. In 3 weeks time you will be a better and rejuvenated team while Northwood will be still a weak side.

You were unlucky tonight.

I hope I don't see that ref in our journeys.

And in stoppage time how many pornchurch players were queueing up to have a kick at our keeper when he had the ball on the deck?????????????? Which only your 5 was booked for.

Swings & roundabouts Annie, we should've had 2 penalties in the 2nd half but the referee decided he was only going to give fouls to the side who either, appealed the most (you) or squealed the loudest (again you) when tackled. Our 8 (Dwayne Williams) was constantly being used as a stepladder to win headers by your midfield, but never once got a free kick in his favour. Accept it, Northwood won the game because Hornchurch were crap (just like Saturday) and in spite of the officials.

And just as I predicted on Saturday no more than a handful of fans came over. Why, champions league on the tv, or would that not have made any difference. How many there on Saturday thought, "Shan't go to Northwood, we thumped Dartford from that league, we'll win easily".

agree 100% we may have had 7 players out but how many would realistically start? Janners, Cross and Goddard

BIG well done to Glozier, Harry and Lee who didnt stop running...oh and well done Rampkin on a decent debut! but thats the only positives i could find

Maybe I have a lower success threshhold but we all knew this season would be harder than last. I also have my own self-imposed rule of not criticising management or players on the Forum, but respect everyone elses right to do so. I am very disappointed with recent results but know there is nothing we can tell Colin that he and his team don't know already. Every season has highs and lows and there will be many good days ahead for us. What's the saying? ... "Keep the Faith!"

trouble is we have been spoiled by success over the past few years...I think we have won around 80ish% of all games played since 2002 (daggsy?) when we changed things around and the past two seasons have been a veritable feast of promotions and silverware but the ryman premier league (level 3) is where it all starts to get tough and we cannot expect to have it all our own way on the limited playing budget that colin works within....

last night was not a reflection of our season past or present imo...it was a poor result due to several factors..mainly players missing due to injury and a missed penalty that changed the game...

I genuinely believe that colin will get us into the play offs and we could also nick one of the two cups we are still in....

if not we'll buy a couple ourselves.... grin elephant
