NEW MANAGER - PRESS RELEASE

Recommended Posts

AFC HORNCHURCH - PRESS RELEASE. WEDNESDAY 31st MAY 2006.

This evening AFC Hornchurch were pleased to introduce their new management team at a packed press conference held at the clubs Bridge Avenue Stadium.

Weeks of speculation after the surprise resignation of John Lawrence at the end of a treble winning season, were ended when the Board of Directors welcomed Colin McBride as the new first team manager. Colin arrives at The Stadium with an impeccable history in management from Conference South Thurrock FC, where he held the reigns for 524 games in nine years.

The Board also introduced Colin’s support team comprising:

Jimmy McFarlane as assistant player manager, first team coach Ron Handley,

goalkeeping coach Bill Lepage and returning to Bridge Avenue, physiotherapist Richard Harper.

Along with the new management team, the club have appointed qualified coach Aidan Boxall as Youth and Academy Development Manager, a new position that highlights the clubs drive toward a comprehensive youth policy that will encompass the current U13, U18 and Capital League teams. Aidan comes to AFC Hornchurch from Chelmsford FC where he was the full time youth development manager for 2 years. The manifest of youth development will be expanded over the next two seasons to encompass teams from under 12’s as well as setting up an academy centre for 16 to 19 year olds and looking at the possibility of starting a women’s football programme.

Expectations at the club are very high after the team made a clean sweep of trophies last season, as well as being the first senior team in England to win their championship. Nevertheless, the Board of Directors are firm in the belief that Colin McBride and his management team bring to AFC Hornchurch a unique blend of experience and positive attitude along with ambitious plans to move the club forward to the next level.

An exciting future beckons for the Urchins.

Jon Smith

Managing Director

AFC Hornchurch.

Clever appointments,

Colin has loads of experience, and is a proven winner. He and his team have the ability to take Hx to those once before lofty heights, and possibly beyond.

Aiden is a good coach, and good communicator. Just sit back and watch those talented kids come through.

Well done Hx, good luck to Colin and his crew, and Aiden for the coming season.
