A couple of non league snippets

Looks like Dulwich Hamlet are on a massive upward curve since crowds were allowed back into grounds.

Attendances of over 3,000, queues trailing down the road and supporters being refused entry due to ground capacity.

And to cap it all Peter Crouch has now become a director at the club.

  • 2 weeks later...

In his post match interview Dartford manager Steve King has complained about the Ref/officials not checking the match balls before the game.

He's accused Braintree of deliberate time wasting by throwing several balls onto the pitch during the game that were flat.

Something we should be mindful of when we visit Braintree at the end of January.

Went to see 2 games yesterday. The evening game at Beaconsfield was a fairly good game across the board and even though they were playing 2nd in the league Met Police, I think on the balance Beaconsfield probably should have won the game (finished 2-2)

More importantly, went to see Marlow v Binfield in the afternoon where both Gabe George and Christian Rowe played.

George - played about 75 minutes. You could tell he isn't quite match fit as wasn't really at the races for much of the game, but did make 1 excellent run down the right hand side and was about 2 inches from scoring a great goal from 20 odd yards. Hopefully once match fit, his contribution will start to shine.

Rowe - 2nd time we have seen him for Binfield now and what a great prospect he looks to be. Strong, reads the game very well, good in the air, very confident on the ball and deceptively quick as well. All round looks to be an excellent centreback prospect and 1 to really keep an eye on.

The game itself ended 3-0 to Marlow after Jamie Mcclurg gave away a pen and 2 individual bits of excellence from the Marlow striker. Marlow on performance weren't 3-0 better than Binfield, but took their chances better than Binfield did.

I haven't seen much of Christian Rowe to really give an opinion but looking at his playing career so far, he has already had trials at a Championship club prior to signing a 2 year deal at Havant and Waterlooville.

Not sure what happened at Havant for him to currently be playing at our Academy23.

As you say he's looks like one to keep an eye on.

Christian is a local lad from Ascot, last year Havant signed a few younger players on contracts via Simon Walton.

However things did not work out for him there hence how he has found himself at A23.

He was one who played for us in the in house friendly against Hanwell, when Alfonso came in fir the first time, however he tore his hamstring, and was out for a number of weeks, only coming back a few weeks back.

With us in good form, and not many A23 games at the moment, we wanted him to get some senior football, and Binfield is a very good fit, I have seen him in two of his three games already against Ashford and Bracknell, and has done very well, and is very much on our radar for the future.

Hayes & Yeading United Manager Paul Hughes has this week added central defender Charlie Wassmer to the United ranks as the centre-back returns from National League South side Hampton & Richmond Borough for a third spell with the club.

We will be looking to Charlie to help strengthen and bring further stability to the United defence as we move into the second half of our fixtures.

Sounds like he's a bit of a disruptive influence so best of luck with that.
