An OG it maybe, but I don't understand why only one of his teammates offered their congratulations?
Afterall, the OG would not have been scored had he not bothered to chase the defender down....
In what may turn out to be a very close season our goal difference could mean everything....
I'll applaud you Rick..... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" />

It was not so much a question of 'was it an own goal' but more 'was it a goal'.

The referee did not point to the centre circle for some considerable time, and there was some confusion as to whether the ball had gone into the net or into the side netting.

The referee at first came over to Rikki, who was limping when he got up, and certainly it was some time before he pointed to the centre to award the goal.

It looked as though Billy Holland was congratulating Rikki for winning the penalty, rather than for scoring the goal.

The video evidence is not conclusive one way or the other - but it does appear that Rikki was possibly fouled / brought down by the tackle, but he certainly also seemed to get a touch on the ball.

An own goal can be clear cut, with no attacking player anywhere near to the ball, but this one seems to me to be Rikki's goal, simply because the benefit of any doubt should really be given to the attacking player.
