Canvey 3 Town 1

Dream on. Many Town supporters stand on the side. The terracing at the northern end appeared pretty full to my eyes and when the sides changed ends second half there must have been at least 70 behind the Canvey goal.

I am told that the bar had more Enfield fans in before the game than Canvey. But I suppose you know best.

We shall see how many are at the Ilford game in 2 weeks. I reckon that will barely scrape 320.

Just a quick question. Who was the number 17 who came on for Hunt just before half time? On the teamsheet I have him listed as Bryan Hammett but you seem to be talking about somebody called Kojo.

I do the match reports for Canvey's website so any help is much appreciated. Many thanks.

nice one steph,i suppose you have taken into account the last two away games for us before witham which were arlesey and flackwell heath, which were both on a tuesday(the last one being on the same night as celtic v man utd)which i believe your crowd suffered that night as well.

Have you been to both of these grounds yet,i doubt it and have you been to witham yet(they had about 30 fans of their own yesterday)???

think it will be more a fair balance when you have been to all 3 of these grounds,we haven't been to canvey yet and i should imagine it will all change when we have and they come to us.Oh and guess what,we have sudbury away on a tuesday as well so we probably won't take 100-150 up there that day, which we would on a saturday.Fact of the matter is those 3 games are pretty inaccessable to alot of fans who work in the city after work, yes they could go by train but i doubt many would because it would take 2 plus hours to get home from.nice bite though steph you moron!!

We have not been to Flackwell Heath this season but there were a damn site more than 88 when we last went there.

Witham was actually our lowest away gate of 144.

Our lowest league gate last year was 140 v Barton Rovers which was actually on a cold Tuesday night (24/10/05)

(It has to be said that your attendance at Aveley was far better than ours at 153 v 278 but that is a local Derby for you as it is 5 miles from Hornchurch compared with 30 for Town)

BTW Witham is 41 miles from Town compared to 29 for Hornchurch. - Face it we have more travelling supporters than you.

when is witham 29 mile from here???

don't believe you have more travelling supporters than us.our last 3 away games have been by far our worst away attendances granted but arlesey must be 60 miles on a tuesday night and flackwell must be 70-75 miles away at least,to take 45-50 away to both of these games is a decent affort and had there actually been any home fans i am sure the attendances would of been higher. For some locals flackwell v hornchurch is simply not going to compete with celtic v man utd, especially on a cold november night.

Anyway i am looking forward to seeing your 150 plus army down at the bridge next year.we will see

Away attendances could be due to many factors:

Position in the league

Fee to get in

Car parking fee!

Weather

Distance to travel

Near to Christmas!!!

What else is on the box.

The fact that the away team do not get any of the gate money so why not wait until the following home game to spend, spend, spend and give over your hard earned cash to your own club!

Does it really matter how many ETFC fans travelled to Canvey? Some teams would be grateful that we actually took between 70 - 120 to boost their coffers!

As if the day wasn't bad enough My car broke down and I had to call out the RAC and spend a further £85.54 to sort it out, All before I had even managed to get off the Island!!

thanks to all fellow Towners who drove straight past (O.K. I was in the leisure centre car park )

The little black guy who came on before half time was Kojo Ofori. Bryan Hammatt came on towards the end. Sorry I can't remember the numbering!

Ehm Hawk Boy

You point out the post where anyone from Town said they would take 150 and I will pay for you to get in at Hornchurch when we play you.

As I recall Canvey were predicting or hoping that we would take 150 and if I am correct you pay for me to go in.

I have to say I was disappointed with the ground. What a postage stamp. £1.50 for car park. £8 to get in and pay for a seat if you want one - for concrete stadium built on a village green below sea level! I prefer Concord Rangers and Bowers & Pitsea - nicer grounds but not so good pitch surfaces I'll grant you.

We had 100+ there. Most of the regulars were present.
