Congrats to Guernsey - Semi Finalists of the FA Vase

Recommended Posts

Guernsey have reached the semi -finals of the FA Vase and will face Spennymoor Town, the favourites.

It's the first time a side currently in the Combined Counties has reached this stage. Previously Merstham have reached the QF whilst in the CCL.

Epsom and Ewell made the very first Vase final but they were in the Surrey Senior League at the time.

Banstead Ath made the semis in the 1997 whilst in the Isthmian League 2.

Let's hope Guernsey become the first side to win the Vase from this League.

GFC stepped up their game today in front of a record crowd. No disrespect to Walsall, who put put in a decent performance, better than last week even. I believe if Guernsey are to make the final, they will need to have goals in hand over Spennymoor before the away leg. Walsall players and fans were a brilliant bunch. Hopefully we'll be able to welcome them over again some day. They looked disheartened to lose, but they played well and should be proud of their performance.

If you want to add another club [albeit a slightly tenuous link] Windsor & Eton QF 1980 & SF 1981 whilst in the Athenian League.

It would most likely be postponed Dessie, as would their game against Dorking on 3rd May. Bearing in mind the FA have agreed an extension to the season until 4th May - stipulating all games affecting promotion / relegation must be played by that date - the likely option is to reschedule the games into an already hectic April. That's unless the FA relent and allow a further weeks extension

If it is postponed GF that would be the 4th time, this fixture will end up as a pre-season friendly soon
