,,,and many couldn't give a stuff whether the over hyped, over ambitious, average national team wins or not,, myself included.

Why do you think it is that so many people care more now about their own favourite team and don't really care about the national team?

Why do you think it is that so many people care more now about their own favourite team and don't really care about the national team?

Or, alternatively, why should anyone care about a national team any more ? Not sure either question has a definitive answer, although the assumption by card carrying, flag waving patriots that everyone should think the way they do is as odd to some as it is patronising!

well thats up to you and as most people on here know i will respect your opinion I don't agree but i will respect it,surely one of the greatest days in this countries history was when England won the world cup(never gonna happen to Scotland worst luck),England has the players to achieve it again and with a change in mind set( i.e. the old school tie brigade)can go and win something major,we all support our favourite teams but for me the National team is bigger.

I'm sure the Chessy guys understand the cancellation procedure, and the league et al were informed about our last postponement in a correct manner, partly thanks to your kind assistance JR.

anyway wrong thread, sorry!

Twice as I understand it  !

Our official  DFC  web-site now shows the cancellation, but you were ahead of them !!

Spot on Duncs.

In this day and age of apathy if I think someone is talking bollocks I'll say so and thevoiceofreason is, on this particular subject, talking complete bollocks.

Good to see a well thought out response, To be blessed with that epithet by one so expert in the field is an honour. Hopefully that field is made of grass and not the tippy tap crap fawned over by the trendies. At least my bollocks is based on English grammar rather than being that of one challenged by such things, 4G, 3G,? Who cares? It isn't football and never will be, Bollocks a specialist subject of yours, by any chance?

Whilst, for me, England are irrelevant. Happy for anyone to support whoever they wish, but the jingoistic rubbish and media drivel that surrounds a very average team is cringeworthy.

And the grasp of grammar so good that a capitalised word follows a comma. You can't make this up pmsl.

Hanworth 4 Horley Town 3

First League game for a month and it showed, totaly dominated the first 40 minutes scored, hit the upright hit the cross bar and had two cleared of the line. Ashley got flatterned by a very nasty challenge and then we went to sleep in the extra ten minutes played in the first half ,a mix up for the first and a terriible mistake by our keeper for the second to go in at half time two one down.Got back into the game through Ashley only for Hanworth to take the lead again. Then four nasty tackles on the trout two by the same player saw him get yellow carded the the referee bottled it as the second foul was worse than the first. Juppy then got flatterend again! We again got back in it through Ashley to nake it three three then in the 10th minute of injury time Hanworth broke from our corner and sloppy defending saw Hanworth score the winner. Hanworth just wanted the game more than use.

Two long journey up in three days and we must sort out our defending and finishing. Shame to hear some nasty comments from Hanworth having seen previous report I am saying nothing more but it should not happen!

its all very well saying spend money on getting better drainage etc but that can have its own problems.  I seem to recall Sandhurst have pumps to take the water away, providing there is somewhere for the water to go but if you want 'proper' drainage that can be expensive as well.  One of my old clubs spent £100k on a new pitch which had fancy drainage and irrigation system only to not look after the pitch properly and now it is one of the worst in the Southern League again.  Yes not as costly to do as a 3G/4G pitch and perhaps needs more TLC to maintain that a 3G/4G?

A 3G (officially there's no such thing as a 4G or higher at the moment - it's just a marketing term) costs a bit more to maintain than the majority of clubs at our level will be spending on natural grass - up to £15k a year is suggested and a 'sinking fund' to cover relaying costs is insisted on if you get funding from the Football Foundation. They currently suggest £25k a year for this but, as you can use it more, the costs per hour played on the pitch will be less with 3G if it's used enough.
