Hanworth 4 Horley Town 3

First League game for a month and it showed, totaly dominated the first 40 minutes scored, hit the upright hit the cross bar and had two cleared of the line. Ashley got flatterned by a very nasty challenge and then we went to sleep in the extra ten minutes played in the first half ,a mix up for the first and a terriible mistake by our keeper for the second to go in at half time two one down.Got back into the game through Ashley only for Hanworth to take the lead again. Then four nasty tackles on the trout two by the same player saw him get yellow carded the the referee bottled it as the second foul was worse than the first. Juppy then got flatterend again! We again got back in it through Ashley to nake it three three then in the 10th minute of injury time Hanworth broke from our corner and sloppy defending saw Hanworth score the winner. Hanworth just wanted the game more than use.

Two long journey up in three days and we must sort out our defending and finishing. Shame to hear some nasty comments from Hanworth having seen previous report I am saying nothing more but it should not happen!

its all very well saying spend money on getting better drainage etc but that can have its own problems.  I seem to recall Sandhurst have pumps to take the water away, providing there is somewhere for the water to go but if you want 'proper' drainage that can be expensive as well.  One of my old clubs spent £100k on a new pitch which had fancy drainage and irrigation system only to not look after the pitch properly and now it is one of the worst in the Southern League again.  Yes not as costly to do as a 3G/4G pitch and perhaps needs more TLC to maintain that a 3G/4G?

A 3G (officially there's no such thing as a 4G or higher at the moment - it's just a marketing term) costs a bit more to maintain than the majority of clubs at our level will be spending on natural grass - up to £15k a year is suggested and a 'sinking fund' to cover relaying costs is insisted on if you get funding from the Football Foundation. They currently suggest £25k a year for this but, as you can use it more, the costs per hour played on the pitch will be less with 3G if it's used enough.

Ash Utd 0-1 Farleigh

Martin smith goal scorer.

Worst football pitch I have ever played on. I will be very surprised is they play a home game within the next month unless we get a heat wave.

Not a great match at all due to the pitch, yes we defended most of the second half but we dug deep as a team and got the three points.

I watched this game as well as the previous game at the ground - Badshot Lea v Westfield. The pitch was worse on the Tuesday than on the Saturday game but a much better game because both of the teams put the effort in. The first half of the Ash game was not so bad with not much in it between the two teams. The second half when Farleigh defended deep with a minimum of nine players behind the ball and just lumped the ball forward and that was the reason it was a bad game not the state of the pitch. Yes you got the three points but what a negative way for a team to play who are top of the division.

Be surprised as Badshot Lea played on the pitch last night. The referee decides if the game is playable. No heatwave but a dedicated groundsman who does his to get the pitch the best he can for un-appreciated players

Good to see a well thought out response, To be blessed with that epithet by one so expert in the field is an honour. Hopefully that field is made of grass and not the tippy tap crap fawned over by the trendies. At least my bollocks is based on English grammar rather than being that of one challenged by such things, 4G, 3G,? Who cares? It isn't football and never will be, Bollocks a specialist subject of yours, by any chance?

La di da di da. Good football played on good surfaces is just for the trendies eh? Dear oh dear. More prehistoric bollocks I'm afraid.

Like it or not, 3g / 4g is going to play a huge part in the future of football at non league (and below) level - it'll take a while for that future to evolve but one day it surely will, so you'd better get used to it.

I am at a loss why people cant have different views without resorting to nonsense.

I believe that 3g is the way forward and will evolve however because someone disagrees doesnt make then some sort of monster !!

Went to Frimley Lodge yesterday afternoon and got a bit of a buzz when i saw how well the contractors have done in installing the new 3g pitch, the floodlight poles are now in place (8 in all) and the pitch is almost ready to have the surface put in place, whilst running around the rest of the park i just can't see why people would rather play on mud and uneven surfaces when 3g is around, what surface would i choose to improve our up and coming footballers ? 3 Great Great Great every time imo  :D

Maidstone United have announced £320,000 profit since they installed their 3G two years ago. That's not just from pitch hire of course, but all the extras that go with it such as bar income etc. They're definitely setting the standard for how to make it work in the pyramid. I've not been myself but they do tours and talks for clubs who are looking to install 3G. Apparently the whole site is very impressive. Seriously, if any CCL club is considering it, get in touch with them and they'll invite you up there to talk you through the pros and cons.

Does the ongoing Camberley Town FC application for new facilities include a 3G pitch VP?

I don't know. There have been so many changes and I've not looked at the latest version of the plans.

Careful. reasoned comment like that will have some gnashing their teeth. Football's a game, a distraction, it's not life. This said, if you work all week, you deserve a bit of escapism. If I choose to make football my escapism and pay to watch ( no hangers on freebies here), then wanting it to be proper football rather than an imitation of it is my right.

If people WANT to watch tippy tap, I wouldn't want to stop them any more than I would be able to. I hate it and avoid it where possible and find it dreadful to watch. I can accept some might disagree, but if I don't like a product and can get one that feels more genuine elsewhere then I will vote with my feet Why would anyone feel threatened by that or see it as an excuse for playground name calling?

Weebs a load of the top pitches are nearly half artificial anyway.

I think up to League one they will start to become the norm within 10 years.

I am in agreement with you although it will be a sad day for me personally when it happens as there is something special about playing on a freshly cut pitch

But at the end of the day football is run by accountants and they have the final say

Me too Voice.  Youth game off this morning due to a waterlogged pitch.  That would have been another weekend without football for the boysbut fortunately I managed to get a 3g pitch so game on :)

Then off to Windsor to watch a game on a carpet :)
