Ah, Ryan Peters - a worthy member of the 'One Fleet Sub Appearance and No Starts XI', in a chalk-and-cheese strike partnership with Tony Battersby.

Elsewhere, Paul Lamb's continuing his tour of Kent coast teams with Ramsgate, and Adrian Deane, from whom Daish (alas, incorrectly) promised 'more to come', is at Erith and Belvedere alongside other ex-Fleet luminaries Mitch Crawley and Austin Berkley.

I'll stop now before I explode with excitement and offend certain parties on this forum too much.

I had a chat with Austin Berkley's dad in the George & Dragon once before a game. I didn't know the gentleman before I went in there but, you know how it is, one gets chatting once one has had a few Strongbows ( me, not him !). Is this too a remote link or, indeed, does this open up a whole new discussion point ?

Cheers,

I once stood in the glorious sunlight(ahem!) on an occasion at Stonebridge Road in front of the main stand, when you could (b******d yellow hatched area - grr! ) and had a pleasant chat with Lil' Louie Evans' dad...

...oh yeah, and at the peak of his powers (in about 1991) I saw the 'pony-tailed' former G&N player Roy Parkyn (keeping with the hair ideas expressed earlier) buying a particularly lurid, early 90's style, faux-hippy-Summer-of-Love-kinda shirt from Burton in Gravesend and stopped for a chat...

I didn't manage to dissuade him from the purchase however...

Footnote: It WAS '91, I WAS only 15 and horribly misguided (sartorially) as a youth...
