i was 28 when i pulled that stunt.

esu got in at maidenhead for a quid at the tender age of 30! always worth a go, if only to see the look on their faces. i ask for child prices at every away game i'm going to.

bognor was special though... "in you go, son..."

Maybe ESU was charged a senior citizen rate.

To all at CIFC. Your £9 will be ok, provided you do well. If you start to slide and with a young team, a couple of defeats can do wonders for negative morale, then you could end up with 2-300 people per game at best if you over charge.

You would be much better off trying to fund raise with more imaginitive ways, raffles etc which are optional, rather than trying to hit people when they walk in.....after all, there is always a danger that they wont walk in at all.

As for Avely, what a bunch of money grabbing fools. Cr*p ground, cr*p team. Let's just go there, do the job and come away hoping we wont have to go back there again.

or we could....

boycott the games and send just daggsy 04 and urchins who will relay a live commentary back to the bridge clubhouse where entry will be free and beer will be a plenty...

This sounds most appealing, will you be doing turkey sarnies?

I'll not pay £9 to get into that shithole!

A big mistake has been made, definately...

200 people on a Tuesday night against Aveley £9 = £1800

400 people and a crowd behind your team against Aveley on a Tuesday night £6 = £2400 plus a possible 3 points as the teams got a crowd behind them...

When we went skint you didn't see us sticking costs up to extortionate prices and discouraging any local from coming....In fact at one of the very last games in our Conference South saga we played Sutton with nearly 800 people there (We'd been tits up for months and slipping down the table dramatically also plus an imminant 10 pts deduction...) This was because we were affordable and frankly £9 is not when you look at the level of football being played.

I agree. Another option would be for each club to register their entry fees at the start of the season and not be allowed to deviate from them. This way, the likes of Borehamwood and Aveley will not be able to put prices up when well-supported clubs visit.

The only problem is that the FA actually support this extra revenue when a biggish gate is due.

Look at the FA Cup Final for instance.

I wrote to Dave Bassett/Ron Noades at CP 20 years ago as they charged more for the Irons visiting and it was obviosly due to the fact that the gate swelled by about 7/8000, the response was that it's supply and demand, and now all the London Clubs charge two bands, mind you at the Boleyn they do have Kids for a Quid at some games and also OAPs get half price, whereas that's not the case at some others.

Non League should be different and the prices regulated more methinks.

Of course the answer is to stay away, but... if you support your club....

Interesting debate, shame because I have friends at Park Lane and Mill Field.

Or register the charge for away supporters. I don't really care what they charge for home support, or accept that its fair that other clubs provide the 'every penny they can get' revenue that Canvey need. It seems to me that there are many clubs playing at a lower level within Essex with a great deal more integrity.

Hold up - unlike some of the teams in the ESl we haven't singled you lot out for a "special" price increase.

At the end of the day we are "ripping" all away supporters off equally

Not sure how Canvey fans will react to the prices over the season whether we are successful or not - but I can understand why you are reluctant to pay £8 and watch your team lose at Park Lane
