Fixtures 3/4 February

Smudge

Maybe because Ashford played last Saturday, when many did not, pitch not had the weather to recover.Where as Spelthorne pitch was not used Saturday

...not to mention that whether a game gets the go ahead is subject to a matter of judgement from individuals ( although your point is probably at least as relevant, if not more so!)

Molesey v Chertsey is off unfortunately.Lot of work trying to get it on but it failed the second inspection.

Funny how people sitting at home complain when this happens and don't appreciate the hard work put in by certain individuals in an effort to get the game played, only to be thwarted by the weather.

Couldn't agree more with you Steve

It's bloody annoying & frustrating that you put in alot of (unpaid) hours & effort in for the love of your club only to have the game called off due to the weather which you have no control over, then come on here & see comments about sitting at home. No persons (groundsmen) like having a game called off, as you feel like you've failed to do your job properly & also means more (unpaid) hours have to be put in later on in the season to get the game back on

Spelthorne Sports 4 Horley Town 0

Very poor game £7 to get in,we had our Youth keeper in goal (Who played well) as one keeper injured, one working and one failed to turn up! Just never got going as a team and Spelthorne scored the goals and worked very hard.Poor dessions from the Assistant referee in tights for the penalty (You can not trust a man in tights!) Large Horley travelling fans making up at least half the crowd.

Funniest part was Spelthorne officals moaning they could not get in the shed (Sorry boardroom) at half time as it was full of Horley Town Officals.

Was allso interested to see that the pitch does not line up and the goal area is smaller at one end of the pitch (Was bored at half time) No room in the shed! was looking foward to a nice new ground to visit but was very dissapointed with the set up.

Hope the player that clased with our keeper and was taken to hospital by ambulence is ok

So the pitch that was 'unplayable' last night at Ashford Town for Staines v Chessington has miraculously recovered and is now playable for Ashford Town U18s to play on!!

Weird!!

How did the Spelthorne pitch hold up after the weather yesterday?

Carthorse, last time i visited and watched Spelthorne I noticed the wooden ''shed'' as you called it by the pitch turnstile entrance. I was told at half time that it was for both clubs officials so wasn't allowed in, but they did say I could go to their nice warm clubhouse.  Its that big building on the left as you go into their ground, which would be much warmer than marking out the pitch ...  ;)

Our game last night was called off after a second inspection, as part of the pitch was frozen. The referee did say it was a shame that it wasn't tonight as the pitch would have been playable with another day to thaw out. I even considered at that stage asking Chertsey if they would be interested in transferring the game to this evening but we eventually decided that it was too short notice all round. However, we probably would have played tonight, so it's not that strange to be fair.
