Enfield Town v Hornchurch

Recommended Posts

Another poor performance. Have to make changes or play offs will be out of sight.

Thomas has to go. Simply hasn't the legs. Wiley has gone awol and why won’t the manager makes changes. It’s same old same old every week. Becoming dull after such a positive start too.

Agree Comet its disappointing at the moment. Don’t agree with your view on Scott who was given m.o.m. Very tough opponents and defences on top but think we were unlucky that Youngs early header hit the inside of the post. Tough run of results and we need a good run now. Stick with it.

Not the best performance

couple of questions

- why did we persist with long balls onto the head of Ryan Scott - when we all know that he wins 99% of headers - must have won over 40 today.

- why does Gavin persist with the same game plan even when it is clearly not working

- why did Gavin / management team not make changes at half time to give Hornchurch something different to think about - instead we wait until we are behind but STILL persist with long high balls ??

very frustrating performance

Amazed he was given MOTM. I must have been watching a different game.

Totally agree. It was like Andy Leese ball all over again. Such a shame as season started so well, playing football on the deck and knocking it around so well.

now it’s pump it miles in the air up to Wiley. So frustrating

Agree ,not the best of performances against the man mountains from Hornchurch our team seemed like midgets lining up against them,I was surprised Gavin went with the same starting 11 that played so abysmally in the last home game against Folkestone. Hornchurch we’re well marshalled and had a game plan which they stuck too. The only positive to take from this game is that we won’t have to play them next season as we never seem to get a result against them of late.Hopefully Gavin got Ryan Scott’s telephone number as he certainly won’t be there next season when they gain promotion he was by far the best player on the field today. I’m still baffled how Gavin continually selects Hersey and knight neither have really offered much recently.Hopefully we can still sneak into a playoff place but on today’s showing and our previous home game it’s going to be a struggle

As a Stokie...this level of disappointment takes me back to Pulisball! Huth/Hoof it up to no-one in particular and fail to score. If only we had a long throw specialist (cos we haven't). Can't wait for Tuesday...another loss followed by the Dartford Bridge closed Southbound would be a real bummer ☹️☹️☹️

Some harsh views on here with which I don’t agree. I thought we saw two well matched teams pretty much cancel each other out.

Very few clear cut chances for either side. We were extremely unlucky with the Youngs header early in the game which hit the inside of the post and looked liked it bounced right on the goal line. Would that have changed the game? Who knows!

Their penalty was far from clear cut, but nevertheless dispatched confidently. 0-1.  Our penalty was clear cut and was dispatched confidently. 1-1. Their striker took their only clear cut chance in the second half well. 1-2. Fine margins but we don’t seem to get much luck against Hornchurch. Good luck to them, they have been very unlucky not to get promoted in recent seasons and deserve to go up as champions this year.

As for us, despite the doom and gloom in other posts, I think there are plenty of positives we can take away. We matched Hornchurch over the 90 plus minutes and were unlucky not to get a draw. They are the best team in the league.

It makes Tuesday vs. Billericay even more important, but I still view the season to-date as a huge improvement. Playoffs definitely within reach, we just need the rub of the green to get us back on a run of wins.

Guess it all depends on where we are at the moment.

Hornchurch fans around me were saying they had 7 starters missing.    As well as 3rd choice keeper in goal.

Yesterday was the best chance we d have to get something off them.  Effort and intensity all great.   However, we didnt trouble them enough and I found our performance very much stale and frustrating.

Jusr wondered if anyone noticed any changes after half time?   Yes Sam was unlucky to hit the post and had a half chance wide whilst Ollie could have nodded in  if he d been braver.    We were sadly lacking in any plan B.

Im certain Gavin knows the squad better than anyone however it was crying out for something different. I think after their capt won header 31 we wouldve realised balls down the middle werent working.

Definitely big opportunity missed as he doesnt trust the bench enough and yesterday showed the gulf in squads.

I do trust Gavin...However 5 points out of 18 is not a good run and Gavin needs to instill some confidence/get them playing sooner rather than later.
